Maybe because they think you dont know your information. When you go and trade in a car, you must know all of your info so they dont think your stupid and try to make a fool out of you. They will give you pennies for your car because all dealerships do that.

Also, shop around to see where you can get the best price.

Yeah, the depreciation is so low on these cars, that I'm thinking of buying mine at the end of its 2 year lease in June. According to KBB, my car is worth about $30k now, yet my fixed end of lease buyout price is $21k in my contract. Somehow I don't see my car depreciating $9k in 5 months, so I'll probably buy it even if I choose to sell it soon after.

It'll help me recover some of the high lease payments I've made. I knew it would work out in the end.

i went in knowing everything necessary. I have traded in many cars and this is by far the worst I have ever made out. i went to several places... smallest hit was 8k, biggest was 12k.

Trading in ALWAYS is going to be a lot less than the retail selling prices.

I looked up a '04, 6MT Coupe, No Nav, Prem, 4200 miles, Excellent Condition and the Trade in was $30,750 while the Retail was $36,300. Considering I paid under $33k out the door with VPP and have had it for almost 10 months I guess I could theoretically make money off a sale (taking into account other fees would eat into my $3k+ profit).

Of course for the money its hard to find anything remotely close to the G coupe for my desires.

Maybe if I can sell it Retail and buy an '05 6MT on VPP I could come out with some cash and a new '05 car? Hmmmm....tempting!!
