my G wont start :(

Hey everyone

I haven't been using my G for the past 3-4 days, and its winter, but no outrageous temps... I go to start it, all the lights pop on and everything seems normal on the ACC mode, but when i turn the key to start the engine, it just trys to start, sounds like its not sparking or, fuel is being sent, it sounds like it is trying to turn over..

Miles : 102k

I am thinking its my spark plugs/ignition or fuel pump?

Basically I'm really bummed. and hope i didn't fry my engine...

please any help would be very much appreciated.. this makes me sad lol

Is it making a clicking sound when you turn the key, or is it actually trying to start and just won't turn over? The coolant isn't going to be a problem, but should be fixed as there's no excuse not to add more if you know it's low. Spark plugs seem probable, especially given your mileage and the fact that it's possible that they've never been changed. Cheap fix to try before taking it to a garage, just make sure you have the correct gap before installation.

it doesn't make a clicking sound, it is cranking but wont start..

spark plugs; they haven't been changed, that seems to be the issue, i hope.

Coolant; how much will that run me?

thanks for the help so far!

also, it did try to start up/ just seemed it didn't have enough power? possibly the battery is dead, but would a dead/weak batter be able to turn the car lights/dashboard on?

Come on here you guys should be better than that!
It's not the coolant.
Unless it was barely running when you parked it, it's not the plugs!
All of the plugs do not fail at once, The car would run on four cylinders.
I verify that it's getting spark.
2, Verify that it's getting fuel.
One of those is the problem.
Most likely it's the crank position sensor, but that's a guess.

Your battery can definitely be dead enough that it can't start but have enough for interior lights and such. Did you try jump starting first?? And/or you can get your battery tested. Those are always my first two steps when a car won't start since it is the usual culprit.

Thats what i was thinking, Also i was doing some searching to see what others have done for there solution for somewhat the same problem, they said the key wouldn't work it the got chip was messed up somehow?

@ Karlow thanks for the info, i didn't know that about Spark plugs.. I'm taking my battery in tomorrow after class to see if anything is wrong with it. if all good there, will next check crank position sens, and spark plugs for spark, but you don't think it would be the sparks?

Lets try again.
Does it crank?
I assumed it did, if not get a battery, or get it charged.
Plug failure would be a first rule violation.
Rule number one, when your crap suddenly stops working, it's because something went wrong.
That's one thing, not 6. One plug failure would not prevent it from running,
If it does not crank, then that's why it does not run.
If it does crank, replacing the battery is not going to fix it.
Gasoline engine 101, It takes spark, and fuel to get the party started.
That only works if it cranks.

The easiest thing to try first as mentioned above is to try and jump start it. Cold weather ia a major culprit in this situation. Heavy oil due to the cold and a marginal battery=car won't start.

Wrong again guys, if it's cranking over at a reasonable speed, jumping it will not help!
It's not the battery guys, it's the ignition or fuel system.
I would try a LITTLE starter fluid. spray some in the air filter. Crank it. If it runs for a moment, then you have a fuel problem, if not check the ignition. Don't get carried away and blow the place up! It's not likely to fix anything, but it will tell you where to look next.

Good luck
The is a lot of bad info floating around here.

Lol it's not bad info going around, a dead battery could definitely be the culprit from his original posts. There was very little information or description of his problem and saying the car won't start but aux lights will turn on is probably 9/10 a dead battery, which he didn't try to jump or test.

"it doesn't make a clicking sound, it is cranking but wont start.".
Strange it seemed clear to me.
Don't sound like it need a jump, or suddenly all the plugs just died!
PS, mine did need a jump today. It was parked since Wed. and just move a bit.
It cranked on Sunday, but not on Monday, just Aruuug. Sunday I was toughing up the paint, door left ajar..
A quick jump and i was off.
He should check the fuel sys first, because it's easier.

UPDATE - today i went and got my battery tested, it was good but needed charging they said.. they charged it fully and i put it back in. When i went to start it (turn the key) the lights dont flicker anymore and it sounded like it really wanted to start, just wouldn't.

So we can rule out the battery? also, my OBD scanner said "no codes" any thoughts?

Spark plugs? sensor?
