Tire Wear

Hi All. Been looking at an '07 coupe and about ready to purchase. However, the owner told me that the car is on it's 3rd set of tires. One problem: the car only has 36K miles on it. The owner told me the rear tires wear early on the inside the way all Infiniti's do. Searching around here indicates that this is a common problem and some are trying to correct it with aftermarket suspension parts.

My question is, how many of you have the issue and how many have tried to fix it? I was close to being ready to purchase this, but buying new tires this frequently is probably going to be a deal breaker for me.

how have you been a member since 05 with only 15 posts???? NE ways just look for a tire that you can flip and you can get a little more life out of them. Z rated tires are soft so your going to burn them up with a heavy foot and yes the g has a bit of a camber issue so afermarket camber arms and toe bolts couldnt hurt.... you going to lower it???

You can always get a camber kit for the rears, its fairly cheap. A lot of shops dont do proper alignments so you will see extra wear on the inner tire. Make sure the toe is good and the tire should last much longer.

Was looking back in '05, but decided to replace the tranny on my current car and keep it.

No plans to lower it for now.

Okay, so it sounds like all V35 coupes will have this issue and it's a matter of either flipping the tires or getting a camber kit. And that will only help with but not completely resolve the issue?

Just spring for a rear camber/toe bolts kit and install it. It will cost you less than $200 and completely take care of the issue. I'm dropped 3" all around with the kit and just got 40K miles out of a set of Hankook tires. I'm in factory spec on alignment at all 4 corners.

Have you figured out why the car has a salvaged title? Assuming this is the same car the two could be related. If it is the same car I think is has 67k

The rear camber kit would be an easy fix if it was needed! When you buy this '07 have the alignment checked by a shop that actually know how....do you know of one? Tire wear shouldn't be a common problem, my guess is the alignment is not set to factory specs!

No this is a different car. I looked at the salvage title one and decided against it. The owner rated it 8/10 so I made a long drive to go look at it. When I looked at it, it's more like a 4/10. Lots of broken pieces and the interior was dirty. Not what I'm looking for.

Regarding the one I'm looking at now, I spoke to the owner again today and clarified what the exact issue is. When I was taking a test drive they told me that the tires had been replaced twice. I took that to mean this is the third set. I spoke with them again today and they clarified that it's not the 3rd set, rather the fronts and rears were replaced at different times.

The front tires were replaced after 17K-18K due to wear on the interior. The rear tires were replaced after 31K and did not have any abnormal wear. So the issue is only with the front tires.

So would you say the front alignment is the issue here? I've read quite a bit on this forum and others that wear on the interior side is a common issue even after alignment.

Thanks for everyone's help. I really appreciate it!

Honestly OE tires suck, not suprised they had to be replace prematurely. How do the fronts look now? If the car is at stock height they should wear evenly, worst case you need an alignment, look at the wheels, if they have been curbed it probably needs one anyways. Most of the front camber issues you see on here are caused by lowering and not installing adjustable upper arms.
