Hi, Im currently at 178,000 mi and plan on keeping this car for quite some time since it no longer has any value. I have had no major problems with this car ever since I got it at 125,000mi. I do have some sychro issues in the tranny (which is common) but it hasn't gotten to a point where it needs to be changed, not even close.
Anyways, I'm about to change fluid like Tranny fluid, Differential fluid, and Oil. I will get Redline for Tranny and Differential fluid. I've read Redline is good in our cars.
My main question is regarding motor oil. I've been using Castrol Edge fully synthetic with Titanium Technology ever since I got my car. Sometimes when there are no deals on the Castrol I get Mobil 1 Extended performance. I was thinking of getting additives like LUCAS. Is it worth it????? My car runs fine as is but I was worried about burning of oil or leaks from the seals or rings. Im not a pro at this stuff but maybe someone on this site knows the way engines work from inside and what I should worry about at this mileage range. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

With the trans i would stick with OEM fluid but everything else you can use w/e you want.

unless the trans bothers you to drive it then just keep on driving till it fails, as far as addatives you really dont want to open that can of worms on the forums, there are way to many opinions on this subject but i would just keep maintaining it and dont worry about it

i would probably replace the timing chain tensioner...there known to go bad on higher mileage engines. Then maybe change the thermostat and coolant flush. I'm at 150k...and i'm thinking of changing the tensioner in the next few months.

Great that you've maintained it but, since you bought it with 125K keep in mind it's about a 200K engine. My 2K SE Maxima lasted up to 250K but I bought it new and maintained the heck out of it. I also bought my G new and am using nothing but synthetics so, hopefully it might last that long also.

yea i left that out of my post but you should do the timing chain/tensioner/water pump if it hasnt been done yet
Thanks a lot for the info guys. I know theres many posts out there about Lucas additives but I couldnt find a thread explaining what it is in the motor that would go bad causing burning of oil or lost compression. I want to avoid both of these things and if there is any additives to help with that, please inform.
The timing chain shouldnt go bad I've been told. I could check the tensioner and water pump to see if they need change. IDK if previous owner changed them.

So, I've got my redline transmission fluid and differential fluid. I will be changing them soon. I can feel my clutch rattling more and getting a bit rough on shifts ever since I've focused in on it. Anyways, I will post how it feels after. Im just waiting to get ART pipes so I could install my exhaust at the same time.
BTW I think I have a rare exhaust setup that some guys here might be interested in hearing (Top speed Headers, ART pipes (soon), Greddy y-pipe, and Tanabe Touring Medallion cat-back) CANT WAIT!!
I will inform people on this forum my experience in keeping this car running well. I've noticed that not many people report back on how there high mileage G's are holding up so I want to help out in any way possible. Any questions, feel free to ask. These cars and their motors are awesome, one more reason why Japanese is the way to go.

I bought my G with 161k!! Knowing that these motors are built to last as long as they are maintained I was scared of the miles at all. All my friends were like "ewww 161k?" I did a complete tune up (belts, one tensioner, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, all fluid flush. I went from 17 mpg to 21!!! That is off the showroom kind of mileage. I now have 174k and it drives and responds great! Tensioners and water pump I will do for ***** and giggles at 200k unless I sell it before then.
When u did tensioner, did you change chain too? Its a big job isnt it?

By tensioner I was referring to the belt tensioner or as some people call it an idler pulley. I have not replaced either timing chain tensioners, the chain or water pump. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. Lol. If I have the car around 200k I will probably do the tensioners and water pump. Smarter to do them at the same time. It is a time consuming job and you have to get the timing set and the tensioners removed an installed correctly or else you are going to have a bad day.
