Triptronic safe on transmission ?

Hi , im new to the G35 coupe , just purchased a 2005 automatic yesterday , my last 4 vehicles were a jeep wrangler so this is very different .. its a daily driver and i dont plan on racing at all but i was messing around with triptronic today and as cool as the option is i feel as though it may not be good on the tranny although i could be very wrong.....
Is this safe ?
Is there a proper way of shifting besides shifting up or down before hitting redline
Can i switch back to normal drive while vehicle is moving in triptronic or vise versa ?

thanks in advance

Using the tiptronic is fine. All it does is give you control manually what the tcu does automatically. Normally the tiptronic shifts slower then if you just let the ecu shift itself. The only exceptions i run into is the mercedes auto tranny tiptronic with the speed shift, shifts pretty fast.

long as you properly maintain your transmission then it should be fine...ie changing the transmission fluid with oem fluid every 20-30k

Just wondering, would the 0-60 time be faster in automatic mode or in triptronic?

i never used the infiniti version, but i have used the honda, lexus and mercedes version. All three were faster in auto mode. The tiptronic is only really good for down shifting before entering a corner if your driving spirited.

it's safe on the transmission if you let the tranny handle the downshifting

Triptronic is gay, unless you NEED to downshift, you should keep the car in Drive.

Only triptronic I felt real, was in the C63 AMG I drove a while back.

Keeping your car in drive is typically faster in the 1/4 mile for many reasons. Things like grounding kits can make your tiptronic react a bit faster since I know that's the #1 gripe is the lag

I find this thread sort of rediculous. Whether the op searched or not initally forum members already started to assist with his question which is what a forum is all about. There is absolutely no need to flame a poster in regards to his inital question because he didnt do adequate research. If you felt that he was incompetent and ask a silly question in regards to multiple threads just move along instead of being an e-thug. Theres no reason to hate someone for making multiple threads about an issue. If you say there are already hundreds of threads you might as well go back and flame threads 2-hundreds as well.

The search in the forum is pretty bad. Sometimes it doesn't find anything and other times it has pretty good results. If it is so easy to find a bunch of threads with the search, than why not throw some links into a reply? This is a great community of people helping each other, let's try to keep it that way.
