Shifting at 7k in a 05 5at?

Okay so I'm confused. I've seen a couple sources that say the non rev up can only hit 6500rpm but the Rev up hits 7000. I drive a 100% stock 05 5at and I can definitely hit 7k when in the manual shift gate. I also read that this can be achieved with an Osiris tune but to my knowledge my car was girl driven, via the 50000000 scratches behind the outside door handles. any ideas guys?

why would you want to shift at 7k .. youre not making any more power .

Okay, then by that statement, where would I want to shift, so that I stay in the power band?

the needle may look like it's bouncing off of 7000 but 6600 is where it is really at.
There is no real advantage to getting a tune to shift above the stock redline unless you are at the dragstrip and want to eliminate an extra shift at the end of the 1/4 mile.

The reason people shift at redline (~6400-6600) even though power has dropped off is so they end up in a better rpm in the powerband in the next gear, or because it sounds neat.

If you don't shift at redline or near readline, where the hell would you shift when racing, 6k?

On a side note, Scratch X 2.0 gets rid of the scratches behind the door handles like magic.

i let the needle rise only as far as 4k. i see no point in riding it to 7000 unless you are racing which is a no no.

my 03 manual can rev to 7k as well but as other said, there's no power benefit. So your better off shifting at the correct red line. The rev ups comes with a more aggressive cam profile to make use of the extra revs.

Analog Gauges can be slow, its normal to sometimes go over into redline. The ECU wont let it so dont worry.

If you're driving it like that you really should get an Osiris tune anyways.. real hard on the engine especially if its not running optimally
