Need To Get New Key Made G35 Coupe (2006)

Hi,

This is my first time posting on this forum, but I have been lurking around for quite some time now. I will make this very short and concise.

I purchased a G35 coupe (2006) at an auto auction in Texas and I had the car hauled to San Diego where I will be getting the repairs made on the car. I just found out yesterday that the keys were not included with the car and that I had to get new sets made. I did some searching on this forum, but didn't really find what I was looking for and I am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.

I called the dealer today and they said I would have to take the car to them, which is not possible right now because the car is not in driving condition. They told me that the Key + programming + remote was going to run me about $400. This was the dealer in Monrovia, CA. This sounds like way too much money for a damn key. Is there an alternate route I can take? I read somewhere on this forum that you can buy an aftermarket key on ebay and then program it or something of that nature. Also, I read something about needing a pin#. I obviously do not have that information either. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance for any help and advice I can receive.

Best Regards,

Alex

Find a local locksmith. They should be able to run your VIN and get the key code, this will allow them to make a key that will turn in the locks. They will then have to program the key to your car, and that can only be done at the car. There is a code number on the ECU that must be decrypted to program a key. I usually charge between $200 and $300 to do what you are asking for, depending on location.

Your best bet is to probably buy a key online which is uncut (ebay or elsewhere for your exact model, call the dealer to confirm this), then take it to the dealership to have them program it for you. I think dealer will charge roughly $100 - $150 to get it programmed / have the key cut for your car, and it is true that the dealer won't make a key unless the car is present. If the car is not in driveable condition, you can always get it towed to a dealer.

You are in a very tricky situation having no keys at all. The locksmiths around my area at least need a key to copy and reprogram. You will definitley be spending a couple hundred dollars on this regardless of which method you choose. The guys who posted already hit the nail on the head with you options. Good luck!
