Rev limiter on an 05 6MT Coupe?

Ok guys. I did the search and read through the manual, but I cannot find out what the rev limiter is set too on my 05. I took the car to 7200-7400 and it was pulling hard, but I let off to be safe. Man this engine can rev! I love it. I want to set the REV light to start flashing before I hit the limit, but I don't know where that limit is. Can anyone help me? Thanks for the input.

Steve

set it at 4000 until 1200 miles.

The limit is where the the rpm line turns RED, This should be standard in all cars, that's why they call it Red Line.

I know that the red line is 7k, but I'm telling you that my car will rev and pull hard above 7k. I want to know where the factory put the limiter on it so that it cuts the motor to keep from damaging it. When I know that, then I can set the light to start flashing and turn red when I want. Thanks for the input.

I don't think you got to 7200 - 7400, I read fuel cut off was at 7100. You should maybe think about keeping the revs down until you get at least 50 - 60 miles on it...

rev limiter on my old 04 5AT was redline... so i would suppose its around 7000 rpms on the 05 6MT...

and yeah, keep it cool til 1000 miles, at least not past 5000 rpms...

Yea, I know what the manual says about break-in and stuff, but I lean towards the other theory of engine break-in, which is drive it hard early!

But I don't want to get on that topic with this thread.

I'm telling you the tach reached at least 7200 before I let off the gas and it was still going. Hopefully I got close to the cut off, but I just want to know where that is...
Thanks

Yeap, I had set my REV limiter at 4K til the break in period...afterwards...I'm planning to up it to around 6K or so. Not sure yet.

Hey no flames here.... Its your car.

Take it from a guy who owns a company that builds racing engines the theory you are going by is a bad idea.

Back on topic. Don't assume that the factory tach is 100% accurate. Just like the factory speedometer, the tach is more than likely off by one or two hundred rev's.

Well, my trade-in was an 04 350Z Enthusiast. I bought it in Feb of last year and it has 11k miles on it when I traded it for this. I can tell you this, this G pulls harder and quicker than my Z did, without a doubt. Maybe not on paper, but my butt dyno says this car is faster and it handles the acceleration and the speed better than my Z did. The more I drive this car, the more I like it so much more than the Z.

hmmm very interesting. Do you notice more pull at lower RPM's or higher RPM's?.. or both?

Here is the answer:

The rev light is set to 8K RPM from the factory. You have to reset it to what YOU want the light to come on. Ideally, for break in period it would be 3-4K RPMS as mentioned above, and when done with the break in period I would then set it exactly at redline (7K).
