Newbie, 2003 G35, after window tinting Electrical problems
Greetings, Newbie here, Just bought my first 2003 G35 Coupe (Auto) Love it! However I have only had the car for three days now and have issues. I took the car to get the windows tinted day after I purchased it, when I picked it up the driver side seat will not move forward /reverse automatically when you move backrest forward, (passenger side works) I had just used it the night before so I know it works, also the dome light does not come on when drivers side door is opened (passenger side works) and lastly when the key is in the ignition and the door is open it does not chime to let you know the key is in the switch. I checked all fuses and all were good. I'm thinking maybe something got wet while they were tinting the windows and shorted some thing out...Any suggestions would be great, Thanks!
Take a look at the door jamb on the driver side door - You'll want to google / search here on this for more info by the way and more precise descriptions - there's a screw that can be turned to keep the driver side window from rolling down when you open the door (so it doesn't screw up your tint).
It basically tells the car that the door is NOT open so the window on that door doesn't automatically adjustment and shift the tint before it's set. That also explains why the map light, chime, and seat movement aren't working as they all also rely on the door being open.
Actually quickest/easiest fix would be call the tint shop and have them tell you what to adjust to get it back to normal. It's common and easy to fix, they probably just forgot to tell you what was up.
Congrats on the G, enjoy it!

OBsessed, good call!!...I was looking under the seats in the back, found a screw laying under the passenger seat, looked at the drivers side door jamb and there was a screw missing out of the switch that operates dome lights when the door is open, I screwed it back in and holy crap dome light came on and key switch started to chime! and yes my seat know moves back and forth automatically!...Thanks man!!!

I read about it a while back but it's all a little fuzzy now. If I remember right the screw creates the ground that allows the switch to function, so removing it (as tint shops often do) lets them keep the window from automatically moving that fraction of an inch whenever the door is open and keeps the tint from being ruined before it sets.
And by defeating the door trigger you also have all of the other issues in the first post (seat won't move because it thinks the door is closed, dome light and key in ignition sounds likewise). If he hadn't said he'd gotten tinted recently I probably wouldn't have remembered it.
