Finally picking up my G!
Finally picking up my G!
As you can see I've been on this forum for the past 6 months and searching my *** off for the right one. I finally found one last weekend and applied for a loan with wells Fargo and I got accepted! 2004 DG coupe 6 mt with 100k miles.
I'm just too excited for this weekend and can't wait to start modding. Not to mention I just bought some brand new v12 hankook tires. 285 rear and 245 fronts which are gonna grip like no other.
Coming from a mustang it's gonna be a awesome transition.
I thought we could all take the time to appreciate the first time you got your G.
How excited we're you?
How did you feel on the drive home?
Was it what you expected?
Do you still love driving it?

How excited we're you? Apprehensive coming from a TT Z.
How did you feel on the drive home? Relaxed
Was it what you expected? Didn't know what to expect since I was coming from a Z with 400+ whp
Do you still love driving it? Any time someone hangs a name on their car (SLICK) and brings home trophy's, ya gotta love it!

Congrats! I picked up an 06 g coupe 6mt w/88k about six months ago. The credit union I used for the loan offered me a 4yr 48k max warranty for $1k so I did it just for extra piece of mind since the car had 88k. Covers everything except normal wear Items. Just something to think about.

Driving home I was a bit nervous.. my other car is an Altima and it was raining and it had been a few years since I owned a rear wheel drive car. One of the girls I was seeing at the time was following me home and we were on the expressway in rush hour. It was fun.. but not life changing. I was 33 at the time. Do I still love driving it? Yeah but you get used to it.. the most fun is when I have it locked in the garage in the winter and its been a few months since I drove it (I tend to use my Altima more in the winters) and you jump in the car for the first time in weeks or months and you're like.. wow.. this is fun! Otherwise, you tend to get used to it and forget how fun of a car it can be.
Enjoy your baby... don't go broke dumping money into her.. remember, you can always add on later and it will make you love the car all over again if you do add on later as it gives you a new view on the car. Bit by bit is the key... but most of all.. enjoy her and don't abuse her.

Congrats !!! Hope your happy with your purchase . You know I've had mine for a year and a half and all I do is get sucked into it more and more and continue to dump so much money in it and I keep telling myself this is the last thing I'm doing then I get time to search up new things and come up with new ideas and there I go again . I think in the last four months I spent over three thousand on just cosmetics and a couple upgrades and I'm still not done now my wife is hating me . So don't do what I did and fall in love where you spend more time and money on your car I'm starting to get the kick in the *** for spending the time and money on the car . Other than that it's nothing but fun and games I see it as my hobby and its just an expensive hobby . So good luck again and if you can post some pics
Picked up my G about a month ago!
How excited were you?
Pretty darn excited! I was stepping up from a slow and dinky 1998 Corolla, so getting into the 06 coupe was a huge difference. I had my eye on getting a G35 coupe for sure and finally sealing the deal on one was more than I could have even imagined.
How did you feel on the drive home?
I had a smile on my face the whole time. I drove about 30 miles on the highway to take it home with me, and every time I accelerated I just loved hearing the sound of the exhaust and the engine roar.
Was it what you expected?
Yep, it was everything I expected! Sounds like heaven, feels silky smooth to drive, and super comfortable and luxurious with almost twice the power of my old car. I'm looking forward to keeping this car for the next several years!
Do you still love driving it?
It's only been about a month and I haven't even been able to drive it that much! But I guess that's what makes driving it that much sweeter and enjoyable. I know I'll love it for as long as I'll have it, as long as I take care of it!

I have a 6MT '05 Black Obsidian coupe currently that I love to pieces, but my very first G35 was a '04 6MT DG Coupe and it was a short lived victory:
Happiest day of my life: December 19th, 2010

Worst day of my life: May 5th, 2011

I was on my way to class when my baby was t-boned in the driver side by a F350 company truck at about 55 MPH after the truck ran a red light. Somehow I made it out of that with only minor injuries (and a pretty big settlement check a few months later) You'll never forget your first G!
Anyways, to answer the questions:
How excited were you?
It was sheer luck that I found the DG coupe, I had been out of a car for almost 6 months at that point and me and my dad woke up that morning and went to find me a G35 that I could afford to finance. I was extremely picky and the car had to be a 6MT with black interior in great condition.
We stopped at about 10 different dealerships but none of them had one that was "perfect" and after about 3 hours, we turned back around to head home and on the side of the road was a tiny Christian auto dealership that had this baby sitting out front right under a huge cross (lol)
It was EXACTLY what I wanted, Diamond Graphite, 6MT, flawless black interior, Brembos, and not a scratch or ding. My heart sank though when I read that the mileage was only 43,000 so I knew it would be out of my price range. I took it for a test drive and being only 21, I had never been in a car quite like that. I instantly fell in love. Best of all the car was only $16,500 which to me was a steal. My bank approved my loan and the rest is history.
How did you feel on the drive home?
It was amazing. Being a 21 year old kid in a gorgeous new luxury sports car had me feeling a high that I had never felt before. Luckily I had brought a CD with me for the ride home and the 2 hour drive it would have normally taken me only took about an hour and fifteen minutes that day. It did take me a minute to get comfortable with the clutch though since the only other manual I had was my previous Acura Integra GSR (Also totalled on the same street ironically)
Was it what you expected?
I didn't know what to expect really, I had no previous experience with the 6MT and the closest I got was a friend who had an '06 5AT 350z that I drove a few times and loved. The G drove like nothing I had ever felt before coming from an Integra and Camaro.
Do you still love driving it?
Well, now that I no longer have the luxury of owning it thanks to being totaled out, I still enjoy the hell out of my Rev-Up engine in my '05. It drives beautifully. I do miss my DG coupe though because it was literally flawless on the inside and out and I would get stares from everyone.
