I think it is a personal preference to go to the Dealer or a to a place of your choice. I do think it is important to do all the recommended things it says to do in the the owner's service manual and keep good records of it being done. That way they can't hassle you if you do have a warranty problem in the future.
Personally I take mine to the dealers.

Just an oil change...dealers are always lookin to make thier pockets bigger and yours smaller. 7500 is still a young car, oil change will do.

And as a quick addition, if you get your own in-cabin filter ($25ish from Grubbs), a couple free oil-change coupons from your local firestone, and a cheap tire roatation, you can escape under $100 for your 15k service. An oil change is an oil change.

I chose to skip the 7,500 check up. Somehow I don't see myself paying for a $150 oil change. An oil change is an oil change, so with the money you save you can buy a Z tube! I personally think it's a slap in the face. All they do is check your fluids and belts. This means all they do is look at your engine for an extra $100! I'll do your 7,500 check up, and you can pay me that $100 to look at your engine!

G's up...

I only follow the ScheduleII..which is oil change every 6months or 7500miles.

I do my usual visual inspections myself and have the dealer do oil changes and
the major inspections like 30k miles, etc. and alignments.

GEE35X, you hit the nail on the head my friend. If you start skipping scheduled maintenance and you have problems down the line the dealer could hassle you about it. What you can do is take it in and ask to see a list of everything they will do. Then you can tell them NOT to do some of the non-essention "fluff" items. That should save a few bucks. Whatever you decide make sure to keep detailed records and save your invoice/receipt.
