hey guys. so recently got this weird rattling from the engine bay. no CEL are on the dash and oil is fine. any idea what this noise may be? i recorded a video of it on youtube and will post the link to that video. my guess is this is a belt issue..

Quick question; does the rattling stop when you press the clutch?

The sound is similar to mine ('04 G35 coupe), with mine sounding a bit more "clangy", but that just might be the quality of the recording. Pressing on the clutch suppresses the noise for me. Anyway, I noticed my sound around the time that I bought it, and did some research. In the end, according to most feedback I came across, the rattling noise is just the clutch. Their explanation was pretty much just that the G35 coupe has quite a large clutch, and that produces more noise at idle. I'm no expert, so I can't tell you exactly what that means, at a mechanical level, but in the end I just figured it was normal. That was like 4 years ago, and my ride is still going strong.

Again, I'm no expert, so I'd wait to see what others say. Just giving some input. My apologies if I'm way off base.

Are you doing anything to make the noise stop or is it intermittent like that normally?

 

I have an 05 6mt coupe and mine makes the same exact noise. When driving it seems to get louder when i let go of the gas and decelerate a little bit. Its driving me crazy and i need to know what it is anyone figure out a solution?

 

Sounds like a valve out of adjustment...hard to tell without being there
