Coupe Random Little Question Thread
#827
This is my first post on this forum, or any forum for that matter, so I thought I shouldn't start by making a new thread. I'll start by giving some information I suppose. I'm in high school and just bought my first car: a 2005 black coupe 6MT. It has 140k miles. I bought it at $8000 from a fairly reputable used car dealer. About 3 days after the purchase there was a rattling sound from the front of the car and the oil light flickered on and off. I took it to my local autoshop where they told me it was the timing chain. Fearing I had been scammed somehow, I went back to the dealer and asked them to look at it. They topped off the oil and the sound was much less noticeable. Still skeptic, I asked my dad and he took the car to his friend who's a general auto mechanic. Apparently there was a loose hose of some sort? and the mechanic did an oil change... Car sounds fine now except for a slight rattle on startup. Outside of engine: tear in dash that I looked into on here and didn't find much resolution to besides an expensive replacement, white speckles on the hood which I assume is natural deterioration of paint on a 10 year old car with 140k miles, and the seat problem everyone has. I've had the car for less than a month. I plastidipped the grille black(left the emblem) and was thinking about a black out. The windows have 5% vlt I'm pretty sure. I'm not sure what the best way to make the wheels black or if I should buy new ones since the current are a lil beat up. Also haven't decided what to make the license plate... That's about all I can think of right now. I'd like to hear everyone's thought on problems I may have with a car at this mileage and what kind of mods I should do--Aesthetic mods for the most part unless there's a simple change I can make that'll make a huge difference.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
First, before you do any mods, I recommend making sure the car is in good running condition. Fix/repair anything that is wrong with the car before you even think about doing anything else. Plastidipping and all that don't add much value to me IMHO; a good running well-maintained car is a better investment than little mods here and there.
I spent a good $2k+ for maintenance when I got my 05 coupe 6MT/Nav on new tires, oil change, brake/clutch fluid flush, etc. and general inspection from the dealer to make sure the car was in good running order.
Good luck and drive safe man.

anybody know where I can find the name of the grill with the emblem but without all those bumps inside.

or is it just an ionic emblemless grill with a rear emblem glued to it?
