Have you checked to see if your diff bushings are shot? You'll see silicone running down the back of the diff cover if they're bad.

+1 on checking bushings. Thunk noise on launch is typically a mount or bushing.

Check the rear diff bushing first, should be pretty obvious if it failed because it's filled with goo and leaks down the diff cover. I also have a 240SX and that thunk noise can also be bad sub-frame bushings. I don't think the G is old enough to have that problem, and maybe that gooey diff bushing saves the subframe bushings from going bad.

Mine failed recently, here's what it looks like:

Might be the rear axle click/thump. As above, check the bushing first cause its easy. After that look up the DIY axle click fix on this site.

plus 1 on bushings/seals. Is it clicking as well? Might be bad wheel bearing. Or also depending if the previous owner never changed the suspension it could be really worn struts that are bottoming out. repost when u find out what it was for future people searching this problem

The axle click issue is just that, a clicking. There's no thump involved so I doubt it's the issue here.

I get that from time to time. Ur diff bushing isnt necessary lily worn to be replaced, but ur synchro is hanging up time to time. Does it clunk between shifts? I get a lil thub on hard 1st-2nd but its not bad to warrant a replavement. My 240 even did it.

Ok guys sorry to give you the run around im in the military and in between getting new orders and finishing up training I dont have time to mess with my car a lot so today I checked it outvagain and sorry its not coming from the rear end its coming from the engine bay ill paint the picture to see if this help car is at idle I engage clutch let off very quickly than slight "thump" next engage clutch put the car into first than back into neutral let off clutch quickly louder "thump" if i let off slowly nothing happens only when I do it quickly so it also happens when im driving and shifting fast so in other words anytime I come off the clutch fast I get this noise whitch leads me to now believe its my clutch anyone else expiring the same problem? Sorry again for the run around

Mine will make that thunk noise and rattle a little bit if I drop quickly in neutral. It's normal. Our cars just have noisy clutches.

Since you just got the car and aren't used to it yet, you might need to keep an eye on it in case it's something else. But loud flywheel and clutch noises are normal on these cars.
