Does the 05 coupe have a rev limiter?
Does the 05 coupe have a rev limiter?
After doing some searching it seems that the 5AT does have a rev limiter but today I was driving around letting the car be rev happy and I shifted kinda of late and the RPM hit 8000 RPM. I know our cars shift a little late so did it actually shift at 7000 RPM or did it at 8000? And if so how come since I thought we rev bounce at 7000?
Have you owned it since new? Is it possible a previous owner modified the ECU?
I've bounced off the rev limiter a handful of times when I've timed a manual shift a moment too late.. that pause in acceleration when you do that is such an ego-killer.

tachometers are known to be inaccurate. That's why some tend to put aftermarket shift lights/tachs in their cars. I've seen some other makes of cars with tachs off about 500-1000 RPM at 6K RPM.
Just a possibility, but yes, modern fuel injected cars do utilize a rev limiter. They can be removed or raised through custom tunes
