Attempting rb25 swap, suggestions? help?

Hey everyone

My 05 rev-up coupe with 130xxx body/trans miles just blew its SECOND motor (when i say blew, it got the infamous vq35 rod-knock).
I'm not dealing with these motors anymore, it had about 75k on the motor itself too.

Im planning on getting the rb25 with manual 5-speed rwd transmission and all standard bolt-ons inc (a/c, alternator, PS pump, etc.) for roughly $2300.
Might do some internals work before, but i hear the stock internals can take a good amount of hp, you just need to upgrade the turbo, which i plan on doing. This is where i need suggestion. Which internals, if any? I wanna most likely stay under 400hp for the first few thousand miles.

As for motor mounts, i have a good hand at welding, using a 180amp mig w/argon welder to weld a couple go karts and such.

What does the ECU wiring entail? im an electrical engineer major at manhattan college so i have the skills in this field as well, just maybe looking for some guidance and insight on what a wiring job like this entails before i jump into the whole thing.

Not sure if ill get lucky and the driveshaft will line up (that'd be amazing) but when it doesnt, could i modify it myself? or would it need to be balanced perfectly? I did see a place that makes an aftermarket driveshaft conversion.
On the subject of drivetrain, i also hear theres an advantage to changing my differential? going from a 6 to 5 speed... it makes sense, i think?

Any and all help is appreciated!
and ill definitely make a nice build thread with a lot of pics and vids along the way if everything goes well.

I understand the reason behind wanting to get a different powertrain but I feel the amount of money/work it would go into swapping that RB25 and making it all work, you could have an LS powered G which is much more common to do.

The cheapest LS motor looked to be like $5000, without trans. So im going deep with the motor, not to mention gas too. The rb is a 2.5L

The first owner got it replaced by Infiniti (I have the paperwork) due to an oil consumption problem.

I think its safe to say that when all is said and done
Your RB25 swap is going to be costing you ALOT more then you THINK the LS would cost...
and youll be VERY slow.

I dont care if you got a NEO or the DET, or the NEO DET, even if its built and boosted youll still be slow with a powerband that makes you

The RB26 is alot better engine to swap.... if your going to swap one in.

Your less expensive (But still looking at $15K MINIMUM) bet is to sell your RB25, Save up a little bit more.
Do an LS1, or an LS3, or really save and get an LSX.

All these swaps have been done before and kits are made (I cant say I know of anyone who has done an RB25 swap.... Because there is SO many other swaps which are better and cheaper, EVERYTHING will be custom)

Your Cheapest and BEST bet, is to bite the bullet, and put in a Stock engine.
Id consider downgrading to the DE instead of revup lol. You can find a nice built DE on here for under $5k...

But the way I look at it, if you DO put the RB25 in, I cant see you doing the swap properly for less then $15k and thats with a STOCK 240hp RB25 lol

built short block? Less work, better resale/reliability (how well is that hacked up harness gonna do?), and no one will know looking at it.

Unless you plan to keep it forever, then make it whatever you want.

How much do you like this car? Financially, it would be best to replace the engine with the stock engine, sell it, and get another G35 with the regular DE. If you only have wheels/suspension/bolt-ons, this is the option I'd consider.

If this is a car you want to keep, I recommend a VQ37 or LSX swap. Both are engines that have parts readily available within the US at a moment's notice; who knows how long you'd need to wait for RB25 parts.

With all due respect, if you're worried about gas mileage, you are starting with the wrong car and hobby. An LSX with a properly geared rear end will easily net you 30mpg on the highway with enough torque to keep you from ever having to downshift.

So what ive gotton from all of this is that the LS it be best bet other than another infiniti engine. if the Rb is actually going to be more than $15k definitely, the LS or a built VQ sounds pretty good.

Is it possible to build up my rod-knocked engine? liek could i replace the bearing and all the internals? if that feasible?
