Well, yes and no... The sales manager wrote down the price and put a note on the order paper saying that it was VPP. He also worked out the price from the computer and printed it out to show me. But he didn't want to give me a copy of it when I asked for one.

About the bumper... I'm planning on taking a look at it under day light. If I feel like there's even a slight mismatch in color, I'm not gonna take the car. Otherwise, it should do no harm as others mentioned...

Hmmm, I hope he'll give you that VPP price. I'd still ask for more $$ off because it's not the original bumper. Tell the dealer it's freaking you out and try to get another $500 off. That'll help pay for a clear bra, which you should get ASAP! Even if you drive it for 1 week, there will be chips and nicks. Looks like you're in the bay area...where at?
I can give you my installer's name or there is a member here w/ screenname Wil that does it.

I live in Fremont and work in San Jose...

Why does everyone recommend a clear bra? Does G35 coupe's paint get chips and nicks easily? Other cars seem to do fine without one...

Car paint nowadays is more brittle because of EPA stuff. Plus, it seems like the paint on the G is thin. You will most likely gets chips on the freeways because that's when the gravel flies up at higher speeds.

which dealership are you going thru?

Honestly, I want a new bumper, how could anybody that works a dealership mess up on drilling holes into a bumper knowing that its part of the car's body? I just don't get it. Please PM me or reply here. Thanks.
How strange... my car (05) didn't have holes... and I didn't even have to request for no holes. And yes, I'm in california. I guess the car JUST arrived so they didn't have time to drill? ...

I agree and would do the same thing! I would totally be turned off and pissed if there was something wrong with my brand new car, but can look beyond that because it was accidental and IF they dont hassle me, that truely sucks man, see what he's willing to do for you!

i'm from norcal and had requested that the front license plate not be put on. however, i was told my dealer doesn't attach the front plate on the bumper unless requested. they just had me sign a waiver.

There is a front license plate law in Texas, no doubt about it. I have not doubt because I got a ticket for having no front license plate, the judge order me to put it on, but it only cost me $10 for court fees and told me not put the license plate on the windshield is not acceptable. The dealer didn't drill holes in the front in 3 of our cars from Honda in Ohio, Nissan and Infiniti in Texas.

The dealer speculated that the damage occured when the car was (roughly) off-loaded from the delivery truck.

Certainly the potential for scratchs or other damage exists.
Weren't you afraid the wheel might fall off?

I agree 110%.... I was super picky with mine that 4 salespersons were standing around laughing at me when I was taking a final look at my G before signing the papers. I thought I saw a scratch and was about to tell him he could keep the car until i realized it was just some of the "white" film they put on the cars during delivery. I wouldn't take anything less than 100% FACTORY PERFECT!!!

Angry What dealer drills holes on your G?

Dude, I ordered my G at Frontier Infiniti on Stevens Creek. What I don't understand is why would anybody drill holes on your front bumper to attach a license plate. You take off the front bumper 'plug' and use a front plate adapter. Couldn't be simpler. I would definitely, show those service people what IDIOTS they are and demand a new car/bumper. I got so angry reading this thread. Don't let them get away with their **** up!!!
