Replace Ignition switch and key with a used one

Hello everyone;

If I replace the ignition switch in my G35 Coupe 2005 with a used switch and key from a similar G35, would it immediately allow me to start my car or will it need to be programmed?

Thank you in advance.

Pretty sure it has to be reprogrammed... The coded key is not just through the key cylinder, its also through the ECM (computer).

and at that point all the keys would have to be reprogrammed.

So most likely to make that work, the ECM, key and key cylinder must be from the same car....and possibly the BCM?
