Had this happen to me 2yrs ago...I just replace the whole strip, it's just held by a few plastic push pins and was like $30 from the dealer

I too have this issue on one side and have been meaning to check the price for replacement. $30 isn't bad. Guess I'll have to order one.
If you are referring to the body colored trim at the bottom of the door, it is not that cheap, but easy to replace. I replaced once side that split and looked really bad. Once you get it off, it's a good idea to clean the bottom of the door of all the dirt that accumulated over the years. Sorry, you might be referring to the black seal at the bottom of the door that is fairly cheap to replace.
I am referring to the body colored trim at the bottom of the door. If you have a part number that would be helpful.
I realize that i could buy the part but if anyone has a good solution to patching it back up for a "longer term" temporary solution that is what i am ultimately looking for.

I had this problem on the driver side door. I used some JB Weld marine epoxy resin and hardener which is good against weathering. Mixed the required epoxy and laced on some heavy duty clear packing tape. Then placed the strip tape with the epoxy from the inside of the door panel. Make sure you align the torn strip to the epoxy tape and press firmly for about 1 minute. Looks like new from inner and outer of door panel....
here you go....easy to find the part with the use of google
