break-in period is lasting FOREVER!!!
Break in Period
I had my 05 6MT sedan delivered 350 miles from NC to VA on Monday. My wife redlined it that night. Then I read the Manual about the break in. We are taking it easy now. Thanks for the suggestion about the 1000 mile oil change though. Even driving nicely that thing beats the crap out of my 240sx!! Best decision I ever made. Nismo7
Question with the break-in period and the adaptive ECU (should this be a new thread?)
I believe the G has an adaptive ECU, the harder you drive, the more, over time it will give back in power... It will "learn" your driving style and create the optimal conditions for you. So, if you're driving like a grandma for the first 1200 miles, aren't you telling your adaptive ECU to treat you like a grandma.
I recall an article written in SCC years back: They first dyno'd their new long-term WRX to get baseline numbers. Then, beat the living snot out of it for the next few thousand miles (trackdays, quarter miles, day-to-day hard driving, etc.) Re-dyno'd it, and the computer learned to give it MUCH more power. At that point while still on the dyno, they decided to do an ECU reset: and lost all of those gains -the power went back to the way it first came from the factory. No matter what they did -it stayed at/near the initial new-car level.
I guess you can come up with your own conclusions on this one, Ideas?

I always send an oil sample to blackstone labs for testing on every oil change in my cars. They only charge 20 dollars and they give you all kinds of information on your engine as well as the average of all VQ-35's they have tested. If you see abnormal wear later on it will be an indication that you may want to get rid of the car before you have big problems. They are very good about giving recomencations with each report.

I'm at 1030 miles rite now, only had the car for about 2 1/2 weeks. Should break the 1200 mark by this weekend. Getting a free oil change at my dealership, should I do it this weekend or wait closer to 3750 miles?
