Need some help with clutch issue!

Hey what's up guys,

I have an 03 6mt coupe and my clutch went out yesterday so I took it to a shop today. I agreed with the mechanic who had 5 stars on yelp that he would replace my clutch with a daikin clutch and flywheel. He quoted me 1700$ and I signed the paper work. So at the end of the day he calls me saying that he replaced my clutch and that he had some "good news". He decided it would be a good idea to resurface my oem flywheel. He said he saved me 700$ but didnt even bother calling me before hand to make sure it was ok to do so. Now to my knowledge I didn't think it was possible. Correct me if I am wrong but resurfacing a dual mass flywheel would make it unbalanced causing further issues. I have looked around on the forum and even the 350z forum, but can someone tell me if this is even possible to do and or safe to drive with? I have no clue what this guy just did.

Thanks

So I just went to pick up my car after he replaced the clutch and flywheel with an exedy setup. I drove it out of the shop and noticed my check engine light, slip and vdc off lights were on. Thinking it might need to be reset I started to drive it off the lot and basically bogged out driving at 2200 Rpms. It made like a popping noise. Not knowing what was going on, I drove it right back to the shop. The guy said I was shifting way too late and I should be shifting at 1500rmps?????? So he test drove it and the same thing happened again. He took it to the shop and plugged into the computer and got 2 code readings. He said it was my camshaft sensors. Is this a possible cause? I really could use some advice.

Thanks guys

Could be a coincidence, could be he messed up the harness somehow for the cam sensors while R&R'ing the transmission. But if its the VDC/slip lights I would lean more towards a sensor on the transmission either being not hooked up properly or somehow ruined by the tech.

Or again, could be pure coincidence that it happened right when you got the car back. Its not too common but it happens.

Should be shifting at 1500? Its not a diesel.... shift it whenever you want to.

Sounds like there is a chance the flywheel was installed incorrectly. So are you still running the stock flywheel or aftermarket single mass?

So to sum it up, the flywheel was installed incorrectly. It was out of alignment which was causing the issues stated above (this was the new dual mass flywheel that was installed incorrectly). However the mechanic took it back and corrected the issue and now the car is shifting smoothly again.
