Window motor install question

I want to try to tackle replacing the dtivers window motor on my 07 G35. Does it matter if the window is up or down when you install the motor? Just got a motor off ebay for $200.
I called Infinity and they wanted $369 just for the motor. Greg's Japanese auto wants $467 out the door for the job..WOW

That is a nicely done DIY..It shows the window down during the repair so I guess window down is okay..It doesn't specify if it needs to be down or not.
Thanks for your reply..

Wow, $200 for the window motor? Seems a little expensive.

Auto Zone is around $100 plus lifetime warranty. I change them out every year for free. They are reman's and don't last as long but at least it's free for now on!

It's an OEM replacement on ebay. There are rebuilds avail from this other companys and I see there's some dude that will rebuild yours for around $49 but you will be without a window motor until he gets it back to you..

They are nearly $400 retail at the dealer after tax.

My window motor acted up again today..It just really weak. I have to pull it up or it will bind up and roll down into the door. Once it's up the bump up/down function will work when you close and open the door. I'm expecting my motor from Ebay any day now..I will report how the install goes if anyone is interested.

Put my new window motor in today following the DIY posted on this forum. Went really well, took about an hour or so..Glad I did it myself and avoided the stealership this time.

I sold one off a used door for less than $100, on eBay. Just pull off the inside panel, unplug the electric, and start working... and plug the window back in and put it back up if you need to.....

If motor replacement doesn't fix the issue. Don't forget about the regulator.
