06 coupe wheel

I'm very newbiehere, I have an 06 coupe with the non-sport 17" wheel with 235/50/17R tire. I'm planning on getting an 18" wheel with. 235/50/18R from an g37 coupe. All wheels are factory. Do you think those 18 will fitt perfectly on my car withouth any damages.? Thanks so much

They should fit just fine if they are OEM. You can never go wrong with the 19 inch OEM Rays.

No. Just put them on. You may want to swap the Tire sensors or you'll have to reprogram the new ones.

There is a DIY on this forum somewhere or you can have the dealership do it for you. I don't know what they would charge though.

235/50/18 is not the correct tire size for OE 18's. Fronts should be 225/50/18 and rears should be 245/45/18. Your 17's should also be staggered with 225/50/17 up front and 235/50/17 in back. Might want to double check all that. You certainly don't have to use exact factory sizes, just be aware that your speedo will be off.

Nissan/Infiniti wheels are (almost) all exactly the same so you can do whatever you want. 17, 18, 19's off G, Z's, Maxima's, etc are all completely interchangeable with no adapters needed. I run OE 19's summer and OE 17's winter on my 06 coupe. When you put the new wheels on, your TPMS warning light will come on after driving a certain distance. Nissan dealer will charge you minimum half hour of labor to reprogram your car to the new wheels which would be the easiest and cheapest option. Swapping your old TPMS valve stems onto the new wheels would be a lot of unnecessary tire mount work and probably cost more.

Last but not least, I'm all about DIY, but the hoops you have to jump through to do this without the CONSULT tool is a major pain:

It does work, but wow what a fiasco.

Just throwing this out there, but if you dont reprogram your TPMS sensors, the light MIGHT not come on. Or just remove the sensors all together. When I got my 19" wheels I didnt bother to install TPMS sensors since my TPMS light was already on. Didnt feel like spending the money on sensors that will tell me what I already know how to check by hand... But I have put ~5000 miles on since then and the TPMS system has yet to light up the dash or bring up any sort of code in the ECU. I'm loving it. The light used to come on intermittently all the time with the sensors in my OE wheels and it drove me bonkers...

Nice..!! Thanks for all those good info
I've been reading and people been saying that I can just set all my tires at 40psi and run for 15mins. Then the sensors should reset by themselves, is that true?

If the sensors aren't programmed to your specific car, the light will come on only after 30-45 minutes of continuous driving. It won't blink but just show up on your dash. Turn the car off and the system resets itself and the light will be off.

That will not work, you need to either do the DIY which is a pain or take it to any reputable tire shop for them to program the sensors to your car.

another thing to keep in mind is the damn VDC...

if your tires aren't matched/staggered correctly the VDC will go off & an freak you out when you are on an on ramp or making a wide turn at freeway speed.

went thru that recently after getting tires & only doing them 2 at a time... with old fronts and new rears the VDC almost spun me out on an on-ramp. Problem went away after I go tthe matching fronts a month later...

Point is the cars are tuned to a specific tolerance regarding the staggering too much outside of those tolerances and VDC can start acting wonky...

Yea I figured it out the trick to programming them after a while, but the point I was making was as my car sits right now, there are NO tpms sensors in my wheels. just regular valve stems and the tpms light hasn't come on once in the last 5000 miles as it sits. Just found it odd. The tpms system throws a fit when they arent calibrated, but remove the sensors from the equation all together and the system goes "meh", and forgets all about it. Not suggesting this is a viable solution, but its working out pretty well for me so far

That tolerance by the way, is a maximum of 3% difference in diameter from front to rear.
