cone filter in stock housing?

Has anyone ever fabricated a cone to the stock air intake housing? Would it make a difference or even be worth it? I have an all but brand new cone from a car I sold years ago and want to try to use it instead of buying a stillen or nismo housing.

In theory your "flawing" the original design of the air box they spent millions developing in Japan. Best bet, especially with a G, is to not cut corners and do it right. Just my thought

Sorry I haven't been back on since I asked the question. I got extremely busy at work with email migrations. After seeing the dynos I guess I will just leave it alone. I have a md spacer that I still haven't gotten around to putting on. Maybe I can find time to get that on after vacation. Thanks for the responses. I thought typically it was better to have a cone then it was a flat filter but I guess I was wrong.
