cps change now car won't start
Hi, Iam new here and new to the g35. I have an 03 and last week it shut off while driving. The slip, vdc and ses lights came on. I pulled the code and it said cam position sensor bank 1. I replaced the sensor and car ran great for two days. last night I went to work and must have closed the door with the set belt in the door jam. I went to leave and I would not start it would crank and sounded strong but I thought maybe the bat was a little to low. I pulled it and got 12.6 v on the bat. I charged it for about an hour and it went up to 13.4v. I put the bat back in and started right up. After work I went to start and it cranked for a while before it started. On my 18 mile drive home it shut off twice about a mile from home. I would rather not deal with the shop if I can fix it myself. I talked to the shop today and they said it could be that the ecu needs to be reset. If this is true is there a way to do that myself. Any help would be awesome.
Thanks

not 100% certain on the G, but just about any car that has an ECU can have codes reset & ecu cleared by simply pulling your negative battery cable and letting it sit for 10 or so minutes.
I know when I was troubleshooting a bad HID ballast I had my negative cable disconnected for a bit and everything reset in my G

You definitely need to hook it up to an OBD-II scanner and pull the codes. We could sit here all day and come up with guesses at what the problem might be, but the right and direct troubleshooting approach is to use a scanner. Is there an Auto-Zone near your house? They usually offer free OBD-II scans as part of their customer service program (except in Cali for some strange reason).
You can actually buy an OBD-II scanner for like $40-50 or less too if you look online. It's a great tool to have! Even if it only saves you one trip to the mechanic over the life of the tool (which I'm sure it will save you many more than that), it will have paid for itself in money saved on potential labor charges.
