alot rust on my G?

hey guys. i recently bought a 2003 G35 coupe manual, in red. i do realize there are some bad rust spots on rear fenders on both sides just right around the wheels. and its getting serious as i can see. car has less than 65000 miles ONE owner car. my questions are the following:

1) does this happen to many G coupes or simply just mine?

2) how do you or the shop fix it?

3) will this problem happen again after the fix?

4) what would be the estimate for the fix?

thanks for any outputs and advices ! and i just sold my wrangler for the G !

If you live in an area where there is lots of snow/salt...you get the rust from rock chips which have chipped away the paint and primer down to the bare metal, and when moisture and salt from the roads get on that area, it begins from there.

That looks like something has really damaged the fender, maybe an over size tire or something got lodged up there at one point and damaged it, only reason its rusting is because of the damage.

thats possible. but since there was only one owner before me, i think that the car was not driven regularly. it was average 5000-6000 a year over 10 years now.

Doesnt matter, once the paint has cracked and no longer functions to protect the bare metal, corrosion starts to begin instantly, the car could have 5 miles on it for all it matters. The primary purpose of paint is to protect bare metal and if its cracked, flaked, or missing, what you see here is the result.

Sure, the price will vary as there are different calibers of body shops. Do a Google search, read some reviews, take it to a few body shops and go with the one that you feel most comfortable with price wise and based off of reviews.
