Ditching the Spoiler!

Just bought an 03 black M6, Brembo's and all. I've FINALLY decided to get rid of the spoiler. I much prefer the "sleek" look. My question is how much do you think it would cost? Can the paint be matched that you can't tell?

Ohh by the way... this is my first post and wanted to say HELLO, and that this is a great forum. Everyone here seems love the G as much as I, if not more.

When I drove a co-workers G last summer I realized that this was the car that I had to have... at all costs.

What a car!

Also... is the noise from the shifter suppose to be that loud under hard acceleration?

Wouldn't you have to fill the holes left by the removed spoiler?

The holes would have to be welded up and bodywork done. Your looking at about 400.00 to do it all including paint.

IMO, I like the G coupe with the stock spoiler better than without! You might regret it?

Is the shifter stock? If so, I have heard of some of the early production 03's have a loud shifter! My buddy had that problem with his REALLY early 03 350Z, they replaced it under warranty.

$400 isn't bad. Can they get the paint to match generally?

I know the previous owner took delivery in November 02. Does that make it an "early" 03 model? Only been out on one test drive, but it seemed awefully loud. I don't get the car till Monday. Do I just show up at the Infinity dealer and ask them to check it out? My first vehicle with warraty...

Just an idea, switch your trunk with another member's Black Coupe trunk that wants a rear spoiler - assuming the paint matches. It will be alot cheaper.

I'm not sure about that? Many here say that Infiniti does not cover that like Nissan does, but I have no experience with it? If it rattles and makes a ton of noise and it was my car, I would definately complain to Infiniti and ask that they replace it! Seeing that they replaced my friends in his Z tells me that they have a revised shifter because his is dead silent now and I drove it before and after the switch!

I put in a B&M shifter and although I LOVE the shortness as positive feel, it does make noise and the stock one did not. I can live with the noise personally, the action and precision well than makes up for it!

Congrats on the new car, and welcome!

Personally, I really like how the rear spoiler looks, but it sounds like you know whats going to make you happy

Good luck with the rear spoiler delete...I'm sure you'll prob have no problems matching the paint, since it's black.

Thanks for all the good info fellas. I get the car Monday and if it makes as much noise as it did, I'll make an appointment at the dealer. I'm also going to look around for a good bodyshop and lose that wing.

This is going to be a LONG weekend waiting for my G!
