Bump in carpet on passenger side floor?

Hello everyone,

I'm a total noob at this stuff so hope you guys have some better insight.

I picked up a 2006 G35 coupe last month. I noticed on there is a bump in the carpeting that bulges up on the passenger side floor (left side, beside the center console. Please see picture attached) At first i thought it might be sub wires/speaker wires as the previous owner had 0 and 2 gauge sub wires running from battery all the way to the trunk. When my buddy checked, he saw that the wires were indeed tuck on the side by the door so i know this inst sub wires.

Just wondering if anyone knows what this can possibly be? When i use my hand to press on the bump, its not hard , semi soft? (if that makes sense) I'm no good with taken stuff apart (without possibly breaking it putting it together) . Or is this on every G35?

Thanks again.

That's just there to **** you off when you try looking for after market winter floor mats only to realize that none will fit because of that bump.... But for real I have no idea what's under it (Haven't tried poking around under it). But it's normal don't worry.

i thought of how much of a pain it would be to find winter mats lol

but is this bump in ALL G35 coupes? If it is, then i can live with it. I just dont want this to be anything weird or suspicious since I did buy the car used. Can the people with coupes let me know if they have this stupid bump on passenger side floor

Thanks

Yeah it's normal, and all coupes have them. No need to be worried.

I'll take a wild guess. It's a plastic air duct that directs airflow to the rear passengers feet...
