The mere fact that it is an Infiniti G35 is enough justification against a Skyline badge swap. All the other stuff are just supporting reasons.

To me the most ricer thing about the "Skyline Conversion" is the fact that they now think they have a car like the R32-R34 that made the Skyline a legendary name, because these cars were really fast for the time, and when modified can be stupid fast even by todays standards. The V35 however, is more comparable to the C210 to R31 models which were more like regular cars that just performed better than your average car, at least at the time. But most of us know that by today's standards the G is about average, or maybe even a little below average for power output, and still a bit heavy. Of course either way the G is sexy as Fawk and I wouldn't trade mine for the world.

for the record according to wiki the skyline name was passed on to the g35 last minute by the president. the car was intended to be a new car on its own. I wish they just called it 350gt. that woulda been cool enough

Also the defination of "fast" continually changes. You cannot set parameters as you see fit to justify your belief that you own a fast sports car. Back in early 80s, the Mustang 5.0 was the fastest thing on the streets with a whopping 185hp. Everyone knew it was fast, but no one would say that now. Does that mean we can only compare it to others 80s cars? I bought my first G35 in 04. Was it fast then? Yes. Is it fast now? Not a chance. Plus vast majority of people here didnt buy their car in 04 like me, they bought it within the last 1-2 years, so yes you would compare it to current cars.

I guess we can say it is a common ricer mentality to pick and choose parameters to compare your car with, to justify it. Like, "the G35 is the fastest car you can get for the money, from all cars between 2004-2006, under 20k, and over 3500 lbs, not counting the 350z"
well to be fair car generation needs to be taken into consideration more than the year by year comparison. so techinically the camry to compare with the g35 is the 02-06 gen. jus cus the g was made in 07 its not like there were vast upgrades. its still deep down an 03 with like 10 more hps. which isn't much at all to make a difference in performance

so the g should be compared to this beast

color-matched engine cover - took off after engine mods
vinyled tails - peeled off

*At one point thought about putting blacklights in the footwells - never did it

hmm ricest thing is having americans make judgement on what is what. Last time i went to japan, which was last month, is that they swap badges too from nissan to infiniti.
