Hi everyone, since the G and the FX share the same engine, Does anyone know where is the ECU coolant temp sensor?

The sensor is no longer reading the increasing engine temp and so the ECU is assuming the car is still cold and is supplying air/fuel in a much more rich mixture than it would on a hot engine. When I'm driving is ok no problem but once I stop or at idle I feel a shake and hear a poping noise from the muffler. I've been told that once I replace this sensor my problem would be fixed. I already checked the O2 sensor and the MAF, so this is my last chance to get this fixed.

is there a how to? there is not much space in there? Do I have to drain all the coolant? would I get a CEL after I replace it? I don't have a CEL now. Is it ok to use an aftermarket sensor that I got from Oreilly or should i buy OEM? is there an FSM for this?

I haven't changed a sensor on a G35, but on other cars, you typically don't need to drain the coolant. It unscrews with a wrench, and you screw the new one in. Seems as if there is a gasket with the sensor that should be replaced as well.

A faulty sensor should through a CEL however. You should be able to unplug the sensor, and measure resistance across the leads.

I got same issue in my 2003 g35 Sedan. My machanic don't know where is the problem. Did u replace the sensor ? Was it success ?
