Timing chain grinds after oil change
Does anyone else's timing chain grind every time they start their car after doing an oil change? It grinds just on start up when the RPM goes up to 2000 RPM and then stops. Is this normal?
This isn't my car but the sound you hear in the video from 0:07-0:08 is the sound I get after my oil change and its exactly the same length. Just one second and it's gone.
Mine has made that noise since day one (I bought it brand new back in '04.) I do not believe it is the timing chain, but rather has something to do with the starter possibly not being perfectly synced to the transmission(?) during start up.
It normally makes that grinding noise during a cold start, last less than a second, but does not do it everytime (or if it does, it's softer sometimes to where I do not hear it.)
There have been other posts about this, but I believe this appears to be a normal issue. Not sure if it is exclusive to the 6MT vs. auto transmissions.
I have a '04 6MT btw.

My 03 sedan make a grinding noise after cutting it off, it's not all the time but every now and again.
