Worst. Luck. Ever.
So I just got home from NYC. On the way INTO NYC, my rear axle was squeaking. I had my dealership fix it at the 15K service appointment. I told them my axle was squeaking and it needed to be greased up and they supposedly did it and put it on my service incoice (even lubed up the rear suspension) but the squeaking is still there!!!!!!!!!!
Not only that, on my way home from NYC just now, this biatch merged into me! I was just merging onto the West Side Highway from the 125th st entrance....I yielded accordingly and there was mad traffic. I was merged via the third lane on the right (the very right lane) and there was nobody there....I started to accelerate, seeing all the traffic in the left two lanes, and then suddenly this car in the middle lane decided to merge into me. I slammed on the brakes and went to the right as much as I could, but it wasn't good enough. She indented my front left fender and scraped some paint away. We both got out of the car and inspected damages...she had a Saturn or something, my damage looked very minimal being a black car and at night, so attention was on her car. Her right rear fender had some random holes in it from the accident, we exchanged information and stuff but she just did not want to call the cops.
The damage to my G is minimal, my left front fender is dented inwards a bit....I think I can fix the whole thing myself but her car needs a new left rear body panel. I told her that since we were not calling the cops, we have to settle this on the spot...I told her I'd throw $100 her way and nothing more than that and she agreed, but when I got home, the damage of my G was more than what we saw at the scene of the accident (no lights to see all the damage, etc.). Anyways, I think if she calls tomorrow I'll tell her she's on her own because my G damage is more than what I thought and the accident was not my fault at all. If she decides to go through insurance, I'll be a very happy camper because then her insurance can pay for my repairs (professionally done, as opposed to my home-made work) but I guess we'll see.
This is complete and utter BS though....my previous accident was quite major and I'm not looking for anymore, yet somehow this lady manages to merge into me although I felt I was as cautious as I could be...thanks a lot. Screw this...screw the G, screw everything....BLAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would it help if I said I'd rather be dead? At least my G won't be my problem if that was the case. Honestly, how f-ing ridiculous can you be. If anyone was in the passenger seat with me, they would be pissed as hell too. Granted the lady was extremely nice (even concerned that I wasn't wearing my jacket in the cold weather), I would rather have gotten home safe & sound and accident-free, and you all know what I mean !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess this is just another day with the G? How the F else am I supposed to look at it???? I'm so pissed off right now, words cannot describe it....

Calm down.... *breathe
It's just an accident. It's fixable with money and your G will be on it's way.
Plus it's not the worst luck ever. Look at what illg35 just posted. That's way more unfortunate than yours. Just be glad that it was a minor incident and nothing major where someone could have died.

Elussive man i cant believe your talking to me in that tone, i'll beat your *** Anyway the guy last night didnt survive the crash, he wasnt wearing a seatbelt and half of his body was out of the windshield or something and between the car and the ground, i would say your pretty fortunate to still be living every day because i know i am! If i would have came home 5 minutes sooner who knows what would have happened, be carefull and take it easy, i WILL make that trip out to you to give you a nice reality check haha, jkjk man but seriously, chill!

So she hit you and your paying her $100 for her damages????? What am I missing here..... If someone hit me, I'm calling the cops before I even step out of my car. Insurance is negligable vs the headache you now have to face. This is why you call the police in an accident, because instead of your car getting fixed for her mistake, now your fixing your car yourself. I thought they taught this stuff in drivers ed.

Hell no, the accident was not my fault AT ALL. I just told her that so she would go away. I kept telling her for us to call the cops but she kept saying no, and honestly I didn't really wanna wait for them either (NYC cops are awful and it was late at night and I was on my way home already), especially since the damage to my car was so mild. I don't mind paying to have it repaired out of my pocket only because I know it won't cost more than $100 or $200 (if that), I'm just insanely pissed that this happened. Let me go take a picture or two to show you guys...

I know I should have called the cops, I do know exactly what to do in an accident. But the circumstances made things easier just be leaving them out of this. I also wasn't thinking completely straight because I was all nervous when the thing happened.
Here are the pictures, the only actual damage is what the arrows show. The first picture was with Flash and highlighted all the dirt and salt/snow crap on my car, do not confuse that with actual damage. The second picture is without flash which is darker but only reveals actual damage.
As you can see, where that one scratch is, the metal is dented inwards just a bit from the impact. I'm assuming that the body shop can just re-shape it rather than have to replace the whole panel?? I could very well just fill in the scratch with an auto sharpen pen and get on with my life as it's SO minor (people will prob not even notice unless I point it out), but I enjoy my G's perfect appearance and I'd like to keep it that way.

Dude Sorry about your car. Its not the end of the world and it can be fixed. your story does not stack up. Ok somebody hits you and you give them $100.00 bucks. Maybe you hit her and you just do not want ---Us stupid people here to know that. Now let me tell you when someone dies it hurts my heart. (Make sure you read back on the thread) You are so full of yourself you have no place here on this soil. give me the number of the lady that hit you so I can talk to her and I will give you your $100.00 back. Deal

Your car looks like crap!! Style never goes out of style. your words Jerk!! off!!

first of all, if any car touches yours, its likely going to cost more than $500 to fix, panels must be repaired/replaced and then there's the repainting. I would never have left without calling the cops. I would call the cops for much less than the damage above. Calling the cops establishes fault and sets up proper procedure for the insurance companies to do their thing- whether its your fault or not.
It's worse to pay money on the spot, thats like admitting fault and looks very bad on your part. No matter the circumstances.
If it were me, at this point I would get an estimate. Fix it myself and learn my lesson.
If you cant pay and have to go to insurance, then you may need to file a report of the accident. If you do, Id probably just say that I didnt know what to do and couldnt see the damage, etc (which is the truth from what you say). That way you didnt know if it was bad enough to require you to call the cops, and as for the money... well just say you didnt know what to do... do not admit fault, just say what really happened. Also, dont lie if you go this route.... it would not be worth it at this point. Especially if she decides to do something.
Finally dont be too depressed about the car. Find out what's the very best body shop in the area and go there. They'll have you back like new. As far as the axle clicking, print out the TSB and take it with you next time you go to the dealer. Good luck and remember that its still not that bad- things could be much worse for you.

that sucks dude....that's just another story that enforces my theory....people driving Saturns and other crappy cars are BAD drivers. They obviously don't care about cars (or cannot afford a decent car), so they see driving as a chore to get from A to B and are bad drivers. I stay away from them as much as possible.
