Window Stick - Cant Close Door - Winter Woes
Window Stick - Cant Close Door - Winter Woes
So one thing that I forgot about from last winter is that my window likes to get stuck closed & either prevent me from getting into my car or if the door opens the window wont auto down a little therefore I cant close my door properly after opening it. This results in my spending alot of unwanted time or $ on de-icers most mornings during the winter.
Any tricks to keep this from happening? Besides the obvious put the car in the garage because the garage is full and this is my DD. Obviously getting into the car and warming it up for 20 minutes every morning would help but sometimes I cant even open the door without spending some time with de-icing where the window meets the door seal.
This morning it didnt even snow but there was a tad of ice on my windshield and my drivers side window was stuck in the upmost position for 25 minutes during my commute to work thus the door was not 100% closed on my drive to work...this is not ideal for me
Its an odd issue but still an issue none the less.

Had the same problem this morning. Yesterday it rained and my rubber seal on top got wet and I didn't wipe it down.. This morning it was -13 C so the window froze. Luckily the passenger size opened I got it started the car and heater melted the ice.
After plenty of searching I read the best solution would be to lower your window 1/8" which would still block water from entering the car but it would "disable" the auto roll up/down feature when the window is frozen preventing the motor from burning out. + you got some room to slide something (Flexible plastic ID card or something) down between the window and trim to break off the ice.
Edit: A car cover wouldn't be the best idea unless you are 100% certain the car is absolutely dry when you put the cover on, otherwise bad bad things will happen to your finish when you "peel" the cover off.

Meh, car covers are just a pita if your putting it on/taking it off every day. Ive used them for cars in storage and such but not ideal for a DD.
Remote starter would be great, but not looking to spend any more $$ on misc stuff for the G for a while.
You can grab an el chepo remote starter on ebay for 50 bucks and install yourself with relative ease. I have done 4 G35s now. Only 12-15 connections and can be done in about 2-4 hours. Just download a copy of the ESM and it is pretty simple.
