Question Advice on Indy quote for bushings!

Hello,

straight to the point. I am getting charged $600 for the two front lower controller arms plus 3 hours labor which is about $300 in total $900

is this right? I've been looking at lower controller arms on ebay OEM, just to get an idea, and they are about $300 for both

I am not saying that this is what it should be, but can someone that has replaced this before tell me if it is worth almost 1k or should I look for another mechanic?

It's a super easy DIY, so forget the mechanic, pick up some Raybestos lower control arms on rockauto.com for $50 each, and knock it all out for around $100 plus alignment.

I would steer clear of that mechanic in the future because that's insane. I can replace an LCA in my garage using just hand tools in 30 mins, and I'm no pro.

Yea. Thanks for the advice. Only thing is that doing it myself is not an option. I do not have the resources to do this (place to work on the car, tools etc).

I would rather have a mechanic work on it, but from what you are saying I can see that the price quote I received is a bit too much.

Alright, in that case just buy the control arms from Rock Auto, and find a shop that will install them. You should expect to be charged for 1 hour of labor total as it is a simple job with a lift and air tools (two bolts, a nut, and a castle nut on each side). If they're trying to charge for more time, I'd push back on it. You'll need an alignment afterward as well.

Good luck!
