Anyone have custom-fit SUNSHADE??
I'd like to get a custom-fit sunshade for the windshield of my coupe. If you don't use one here in California and have graphite leather interior like I do, you're asking for trouble. I'm now using a generic one (?Axxius) that I bought at costco a few years back for a previous car. That one doesn't quite fit right and has a hard time around the rearview mirror, knocking it askew with each use of the sunshade. I have a custom-fit one for my 1997 MB E class that MB makes and sells, but my local dealer said he didn't think Infiniti made one for the G35.
Does anyone have a custom-fit sunshade for the G35 coupe, and how do you like it? Does it go on and off easily arround the mirror? Does it roll up or accordian (fold up) to store? Any recommendations. I've seen a couple searching the internet, but i don't want to get one just to be disappointed.

Ack. $40? That's a little high. Is it a shiny silver roll-up sunshade? My dealership carries them too. The Honda dealership back in Texas carried them. They're made by a company called CanvasWorks in Sunnyvale, CA. It's called the HeatShield. Works great, I've used them on my Accord in South Texas, and I'm using one on my G35 with the graphite interior in Southern California. You can buy direct for $29.95, or 2 for $25 each.

Actually, I didn't bother to see what my dealership was charging for them. Now I'm curious.

THX Ryoken! I have used them for all of my Hondas and Acuras I have owned and they are excellent. A must for summer time. Saves your dash and makes your car slightly cooler so that your car, in conjunction with a good tint job, can effectively block out the UV rays and some heat transfer, Anybody get a dealership price?

Re: Anyone have custom-fit SUNSHADE??
masetodd,
If you found a generic one that fits well in the coupe, can you tell me the brand and size? The G35 is a new enough car that the generic ones don't have it in their list of cars to find the right one. The one I'm using now was previously used on a Volvo V70 and is too big for the G35, so maybe the next size down might fit.
Ryoken, is the heatshield one you have a roll up type? My wife has one for her Acura MDX, which we bought at the dealer (made by some other company). Those are a pain (literally) to roll up when they're hot! The accordian type just flops down into a stack without much manipulaiton when its hot. So I think I'd like to find a custom-fit accordian style sunshade. Thanks.

They roll up, but I never noticed the sunshade itself being too hot to handle, even in the sweltering heat of South Texas. Of course, if someone gets in the passenger seat, I usually say "watch your eyes" before starting the roll-up process...

The ones I alwayws use are those round, circular-spring type sunshades which twist to about a 12" diameter package when stored. I use the large size, but the small works also.
These pretty much fit any car (unlike the accordian style ones) - and they take up a lot less space when folded up.
Here is an example of one:

I bought mine at Target (Walmart probably has them too) for $5.

Yeah, those are my favourite as well. They're more convenient to put up quickly and don't knock your mirror out of place like some other kinds can. They're convenient and quick enough to use for a 5 minute run into the store.
