New Car Long Trip Question
Hello, I am picking up my new 05 6MT tomorrow and will be driving over 250 miles back home. How exactly should I drive the car? Stay under 60mph? vary my speed every 5 minuts??
I did a search on this forum but couldnt find the exact answer,
Any help would be great,
Thank you

Congrats and that is no problem travelling that distance. I prefer breaking the car in as the manual specifies. The trick is no fast starts or stops (cause you are also breaking in brakes and running gear). Keep the rpms under 4000rpm for the first 1200 miles, do not run at a constant speed, keep varying your rpms. It is not good to idle your car for long periods.
It was a 2 1/2 hour drive to bring my car home and I actually took the back roads so I would not be stuck in traffic at one speed.
Have fun.

congrats. first of all, have fun and be safe.
second id state the obvious: take it easy on the car. as gee35x said, no hard starts or stops. let the engine warm before you drive it and when youre on the road every few minutes or so change the cruising speed. do not use cruise control.
also, when you're done wash off the front bumper. do not let the bugs stay, it will not be good for your paint.
i drove my car around 1500mi within a week of getting it (houston-miami) and it was great. esp taking it to redline at 1201mi
enjoy
