Hello, I joined here because I have two issues that the local mechanic nor the infinity dealership can figure out and I was hoping the collective here could help me at least find a direction prior to letting the infinity dealership just start replacing parts.

I have a 2006 G35 coupe m/t that has been slightly moded by the previous owner. I know that it has a new intake and a few other minor things but the that is the limit of my knowledge. I have had the car for about 2 years had absolutely no problems. in the past 2 months two issues have come up:

1. any time it is below freezing the car will not start. This morning it was 27 and the car will crank and turn over fine just never fire up... I waited until it got to 34 deg went out and tried again and it fired up on the first turn of the key. Infinity told me I had a bad battery and sent me on my way ( this solved nothing). This has happened every time it freezes for the past month or so. the local mechanic says that I have water in the gas line and 2 bottles of fuel treatment later it still happens. Now infinity is saying that I have a bad fuel pump and it needs to be replaced or I have a bad connection at the ecu and water has got in it. even though there is no sign of a bad connection or water damage.

2. If you kill the car while driving you will blow a 15 amp ignition fuse near the battery. this has happened 3 times.
First time is was sitting on a steep hill in stop and go traffic and I killed it by not pushing in the clutch fast enough.
Second time some one pulled out in front of me and I had to do a emergency stop
The third time I went through 3 fuses. I was parked on a steep incline and I had to reverse uphill. It did fine backing up but as soon as I push in the clutch the car stalls out and the fuse pops. I ended up having my rider get out and make sure no one was coming and pulled out like a bat out of hell. If the car is on flat ground this is not a issue.

Infinity has the car for a few days and they could not locate what would cause this. they want to replace the ECU, but they are uncertain that is it. The local guy checked all connections and wiring and looked for a fray or a short but none was found. Infinities technicians answer to me is "don't stall it out and carry extra fuses"

There are no check engine lights on and no codes being thrown other than a low tire pressure

Does anyone here have any ideas? I hate just to start replacing parts.....

To answer number 1. My brother in laws Titan did the same thing. Still does. He replaced the battery, and nothin. It I ended up being a cam sensor, and something with the ignition coil. That fixed his. For your misterious fuse I've got nothing.

Cam sensors are 60$ each. I would throw the money at it and try replacing those.

Hmm, for number 1 I had this same issue with my Volvo when it's really cold out. The car even stopped yesterday while I was going 40! It ended up being the fuel pump relay was bad. I tested it by using a jumper cable between two of the pins and the car would start up without any problems. Not saying this is your problem, but it sounds very similar to mine. I know the G35 has a fuel pump fuse in the IPDM, but not sure about an actual relay.

*They sure love to use the water damage line a lot! When I was under warranty that was their claim several times in order to try and deny my coverage at particular dealership. I had to fight them several times using simple logic, lol.
