So this happened to my the other night.

So since December, when I bought my car, I've had horrible luck with my G35 and other drivers. First, I came out of a Fred Meyer to find my paint scraped by what assume was someone's cart. Second, Someone hit my door and not just scraped it again but left a quarter sized dent. Recently, I came out of the mall to find this:

Luckily, I've gotten most of the foreign paint off but there are still some scrapes and a small dent on the fender. The person who did it actually left a note with their number and we have talked about repairing it. I went around and got quotes varying from $1,100 to $737. I discussed trying to avoid going through insurances because I didn't want to risk my insurance going up, and felt guilty about making her rates go up as well, seeing as she actually owned up to it.

Now I have started to really empathize with people who park like douches to have a good gap between other cars. I'm glad the lady actually took responsibility and is willing to help out but God damn, I would have preferred to avoid this whole thing. I honestly think it's ridiculous how much shops are asking to repair minor work when they're not even going to repaint the whole panels. I have been tossing the idea in my head to just try rubbing some compound on the parts to try to clean it up more and deal with the irreversible damage and pocketing the money because God knows I could use it seeing as I'm in between jobs. Decent waged jobs, at least..

I mostly made this thread to vent but would also try to make more conversation with fellow members on this thread.

Dang man that sucks! Seattle is notorious for their crappy drivers lol. At least she left a note, i got a scrape on my rear bumper but no note, so ive gotta live with it, and i tried to polish it out to no avail.

After having my car broken into back in November, I am always on the offense when it comes to my G. I would have no problem having her pay the damage she caused.

I'm going to. We have been communicating and working it out. I was leaning more towards her giving me the cash after showing her a written estimated but today she mentioned just leaving it paid off at the shop. Which I don't see a big problem with, just that I was hoping to cut the cost of labor for removing the panels and putting that money towards painting a front lip I've had waiting to go on.

I would have gone through insurance, honestly you shouldn't feel bad about making sure you are personally taken care of. It's not your fault that your car was damaged and you're the one that is being inconvenienced by it.

She deserves to have her insurance rates go up for being a lousy driver IMO

Glad that it's getting handled for you though and that she was kind enough to leave a note.

I didn't want to go through my insurance because my rates are absurd as it is. She offered to pay out of pocket and I suppose since she owned up to it, it made me sympathize.

I washed the car today and rubbed in some compound. It's cleaned up a lot but it's still imperfect.

Going around, there are a bunch of imperfections in the paint. I'm really wanting to have the whole damn tjing repainted! People weren't kidding when they said paint is soft. I also noticed a lot of these:

Nah, that's what insurance is for. If you **** up, then it sucks, but that's a VERY small amount of money for an insurance company to pay out (they go on a sliding scale when they decide to raise rates). I doubt they would even raise her rates.

But just a bit of advice if you park next to another car:always make sure its more expensive than yours. Haha

I picked up the G this morning and the damage is completely gone. Plus, they got rid of an extra dent/imperfection because he said he couldn't stand to look at it, haha. All at no extra cost. Plus, I got my front lip painted and I only had to pay an additional $30 out of pocket!! Check it out, now it doesn't 100% look like a generic G35 on the road!:
