Trunk randomly opens?

Its the oddest thing. I randomly encounter my trunk just being cracked open. I would blame it on myself randomly pressing the fob button but this has happened at least 5 times now.
I don't usually unlock my car with the fob just lock it to set the alarm.
I have a decently nice sound system and I've gotten lucky a few times coming back to my car after long days and seeing my trunk can easily be pulled up and opened.
Any ideas?

How often doest it happen? You could try leaving the fob behind and use the key for a week or two. Make sure the button inside the car isn't stuck and check the wiring harness where it goes into the trunk itself. The wires in the harness are known to become damaged over time but that usually results in the trunk not working period.

Sounds like the remote is shorted out. I've got 2 in my toolbox right now that were causing random trunk pop issues with a client. Only 1 was bad but the client wanted to go ahead and replace both of them anyway.

I did buy the fob off of amazon because my old one was dirty and broken. The new one does feel sort of cheap and I have to click the lock button decently hard to get it to lock.
