ordering a G is it better ???

hey guys just signed up looking to trade my STI in for a 05 G coupe 6mt red with ebony ... now I dont really want all the add ons like BOSE or Nav. I plan to put in better than OEM stuff and make it more to my liking. When I priced it out on infiniti.com it came out to about 33/34 k and when I searched the inventory of some of my closest dealers I cant find anything even remotely close to what I want. So what I wanted to know is can I order the car that I want and if I do will it come out cheaper than some of the 38/39 k car that dealers have on their lot now ... one dealer told me yes the other told me no so I wanted to see what people who are actually buy right now know. I remember the gouging that went on when the Z first came out and that ordering was the over way to get what you wanted without the gouging is it the same with the G??

Thanks guys I look forward to my stay here

My understanding is that if you buy a car off of the lot, or take a car that is "inbound", you'll get a better deal in terms of $ off of MSRP. However, if you're looking for a bare bones car, then it probably makes more sense to order from the factory. They'll obviously push you to buy an already manufactured car, but just hold firm.

Depends on the dealer, call around, and be specific with what you want. I was in your shoes, although going for the 6MT 05 Sedan, I didn't want the premium stuff, and haven't read a good thing about the Bose system. So I called around, heard a few "We can't order you a car", had a lot of "We can order it, but you'll have to pay around sticker" and finally "Yes, we can order one, and we'll knock $2500 off sticker, making it slightly over invoice". So guess which one I went with?

Test drive it, pick your options (Sunroof, splash guards, and the trunk mat is pretty basic) and call around. Welcome to the boards, and good luck!

thanks for the quick responces .... I made the " I'll take it and caving in" mistake when my STI came out so I am not falling for it again. I am older and I now know what I want : splash gaurds, trunk mat , and sunroof only. I too have been doing research and reading and the BOSE if definatly out I had a chance to play with it and it "sucked" and that's being nice. Probably do a custom system but I'm not into flash I want it to be more OEM looking plan on getting the double din conv. and a double din screen work from there. If anyone knows anybody in the Houston area that is willing to work with me then please post.

thanks guys

Well. I was in the same boat you are in when I ordered my 6mt last oct. I didn't want to pay for the premium pkg and if I was going to spend an extra 2K I would rather have the Navi. The problem is you can't get the navi w/o the premium. So I decided to just order my 6mt bare bones. Well when the sales manager checked my VIN they built it with premium package w/o notice. She called the regional rep and asked what happened and they said they weren't building any w/o the premium in that lot. I know you are thinking, the manager was lying to me, but since it is our families dealership I don't think so. Plus the regional rep was involved in the ordering of my car. Well, the point of that long winded story is that even if you order it bare bones, it may not come that way. Make sure they are sure they are making them w/o premium before you order it. Good luck and I hope you can get it how you like it.

BTW the Bose stereo is ok (not worth the money), but my wife LOVES the dual climate control. It was almost worth the 2K just to not always have hot air blowing on me so she is warm!

The 6MTs automatically includes the Sport-tuned Suspension Package (VLSD, 19" wheels, aluminum pedals, perforated leather and orange stitching on steering wheel).

Where do you live (what state)? This plays into the pricing game quite a bit.

I ordered my car Bare Bones and love it. I had no problems with the order, but no money off of msrp... but at the time no Florida dealers were giving discounts.

Tickets tickets tickets ... lol not that getting a g will do my any better but maybe the speeds will not be as high. the STI can accelerate pretty fast that and I also own a 95 240sx with a sr20 in it and two turbo cars can hit pretty hard on the budget ... I"ve always liked the G its beauitful especially with some nice big rims with a deep lip .... plus the STI always grabs the wrong attention ( ricers, cops , etc. ). I will miss the speed of the sti but its time to grow up ... plus if I starting missing it ( speed ) too much its only a twin turbo kit away

Hey g in waiting, I don't know what else to recommend, but what everyone else already said. Just wanted to shout at you, i'm in Houston too. I have been shopping at Clear Lake Infiniti, they are completely out of 04's, and 05's have been coming in like 3 a week. There was a used 04 blk/blk 6mt coupe at the Lexus dealer of Clear Lake with 19000 miles and he was only asking 30k. Just wanted to pass that along.
