Converting steering wheel to g37

Hey guys I am looking into converting my steering wheel to a g37 steering wheel. I noticed there are DIY on removing and installing the wheel but that's it really. There is tho a few post of g35's with this conversion, but not much detail on the process of the airbag. I know I have to repin the connectors before bolting it back up but I also noticed you could remove the airbag cover from the wheel exposing the actual airbag. My real question is can I just unplug my airbag connectors from my g35, remove the airbag cover and place it in the g37 steering wheel and then buy a new g37 airbag cover? Which would save me about $4OO. If none of this is possible is there a way to bypass or turnoff the airbag light permanently after install of the g37 wheel without airbag? Also if any tech that works with Nissan or Infiniti could get in contact with me regarding this post.

Please make sure you disconnect the battery before you disconnect the airbag. And be careful with it. That could be a bad day.

I don't think the airbag will work because they are 2 different shaped covers.. I could be wrong though..

We have a g37 sedan, and a g35 coupe. I can't understand why someone would want to put a g37 steering wheel on a g35. The leather is so much nicer on the g35.

Not my car though. Best wishes with the modification.

The look of the wheel in the 37 is much nicer, as are the controls. There was a thread or two about it in the interior section but the answer about the airbag is no - it needs to be the airbag from the 37 / 370 steering wheel. Your 35 bag won't fit. You can run without an airbag just like you would with an aftermarket steering wheel, you just need resistors on the airbag wiring to kill the dash light, but that seems goofy.

why is everyone keep saying that? Aren't air bags are safety devices? They are not suppose to just explode by plugging or unplugging them.
