How to tow with an Aftermarket Front Bumper? (With no cutouts)

Hi guys,

I know on the OEM coupe front bumper, there's a little piece that pops out behind your license plate, and you can screw in the tow hook there.

I got a nismo front bumper for my coupe, and was hoping to NOT have that little cutout.
But what do you guys do if you need to get towed, but there's no cutout?

Do you have to take off the bumper?

Thanks,
-chris

Yep, just take the bumper off. Doesn't take that long to remove it.

If you're looking at needing a tow point for track days you can always get an aftermarket tow hook. There will be myriad options, styles, mounts and mounting points to include solid hooks and strap hooks, etc. Whoever your favorite local race shop is should be able to help you out there. I'd avoid the hell out of the "jdm as fk yo" type tow hooks.

Thanks for the input guys,

@OBsessed not for racing, just looking down the line (don't want to get caught with no way to be towed if I needed it).

@saywat? the tow hook is used to pull your car up on a flatbed. Better than possibly ripping out your bumper on accident.

I've been assured by another friend that tow truck drivers have other options on the car besides the tow hook. Anyone actually had this experience?

lol im familiar with how a tow hook its used. I guess what im asking is do people usually opt for a flat bed when getting towed considering the price of towing via flatbed. but yes aside from using a tow hook if seen tow-ers attach the cable to the control arm

haha @Saywat? My bad man

I have never had to actually get my car towed, but I think it has more to do with the car being rear wheel drive, so it needs a flat bed. But I know personally I'd pay for the extra $$ to have a flatbed just for the care of my car, being lowered and all.

Come to think of it the flatbeds are pretty angled . I imagine it to be quite hard to get on the bed when really lowered.

I figure that if I ever need a tow, my front bumper will probably be destroyed so id just take it off and not worry about "what if" scenarios for now haha.

I've considered those quick release bumper things . I jus don't kno the details of how it works. Never had a chance to really look. Does it jus eliminate having to unbolt the side bolts?

I've had my g towed when my radiator blew. No over way than to remove front bumper. Then the guy used tow hooks to pull the car up. I had to hook them then since he couldn't get his arm under my car 😂😂😂😂

Typically the bumper has to come off, especially if you're lowered. I had my old Maxima towed a couple of times and it was lowered w/ aftermarket bumper. They always want to try to tie the hook to a control arm or anything similar. But the angle of the strap would probably rip the bumper off; I let them see it once to prove it. It doesn't take that long for the bumper to come off, so not a huge deal. And hopefully you don't have to get towed too often.
