I just got my 2005 G35 Coupe. The splash guards was already as one of the options. It looks very good and I like it a lot.

Man,
They got rid of the Brembos, Carribean Blue, now they're forcing splash guards on coupes.... Why? Why? Why?

Guess I'll have to pay the dealer a visit tomorrow to see how the car looks with them. As long as they're removable w/o leaving any holes I still plan on taking the car.

I think that the rear wing detracted from the lines of the car also... at least they're not forcing that on me.

Your dealer is just feeding you BS!!! They aren't standards on 05. Basically, your dealer wanted to suck as much $$$ as they could from you. If you didn't order it, you shouldn't have to pay for it!!! If you didn't get any Aero Pkg, then the SG aren't standard. BUT, in IMO, the car looks nicer with it on though. Is it a must to have? Almost.

I think it completes the outline of the car. Something looks missing without it. Your sides will look lower, and the a$$ of your car will look like it sticks up. If thats your style, go for it. Not mine though, I had to have them.

I'll echo what was said earlier. The splash guards are NOT mandatory on the '05 coupes. They come with the aero kit but there are plenty of '05 coupes without them.

I didn't want them at first but the color/option combo that I wanted was on the lot and had the splash guards on them already. I was fortunate to negotiate with the dealer and after some haggling, they agreed to not charge me for them (essentially got them for free). The MSRP is about $200, so I think you could at least negotiate for half off.

I have grown to like the splash guards and agree that it gives the coupe a sportier look.

Here are some pics with the splash guards and without the aero kit.

Guys,
Thanks a lot. I picked up my G35 this saturday. In Athens Blue, the splash guards do not stand out enough to bother me too much. I also got the dealer to waive the price since I didn't order them. Thanks for all the help! Now I just have to wait for winter to end so I can enjoy my new G.
