Foggy headlights

How can I clean my headlights so that I don't have to get it professionally done?. I have already used a turtle wax cleaning kit.

headlight restorer

I used Mother's headlight restore kit on mine and it worked great. I had to go over the headlights afterwards with a good wax. Now they look brand new

See above for the very important missed steps. You are also much more recommended to get a plastic SEALANT over your store bought wax. Store bought waxes only last effectively around 6 weeks and your headlights need something stronger to keep it from re-hazing.

Depending on the level of oxidation. I use the 3M headlight restore kit and it works great.

I did the 3M headlight restore, PLUS wax to seal.

If you sand them, WET sand the lights. Water is key here.

Those headlight kits are only temp fixes. It will keep rehazing due to lack of UV protectant.

If you have chips or deep scratches, start with 1. If only hazing, move to step 3.
1- Start with a 500 grit, hand sand one direction until all major blemishs are gone.
2- Move to 800 grit, sand in same direction with medium pressure
3- Soak some 1000, 1500, and 2000 grit sandpaper in a bucket with a grit guard and acouple drops of soap for acouple hours.
4- Work through the grits like first two step, all same direction with medium pressure. Dont sand fast, just slow even pressure strokes. Let the paper do the work.
5- Finish wetsand with 3000 grit very lightly.
6- Use a yellow cutting pad with light cut polish (Mezerna PF2500 would by my choice)
7- Follow with grey poslish pad and finish polish (Mezerna SF4500 would by my choice)
8- Lastly finish with a sealant with UV protection like Wolfgang Plastik Surface Sealant or Mezerna FMJ/Power Lock. This does require reapplication every 3 months or so.
9- If you want permanant, take them to a body shop to have professional clear coated.
