P-0300 - Took to shop.

Car: '05 6MT G35
Mileage: 48,500 miles
Mods: Pop Charger + Z-Tube

Hey guys,

I ran into a P-0300 code the other day and dropped '05 6MT G35 off at the shop. After a whole day of diagnostics, he determined that it was a carbon build up (and this is where my ignorance may show because I couldn't hear him clearly) in the intake manifold causing a lean misfire? Anyway, does this sound like it could be the cause of the problem? I trust the guy, but he's going on vacation for a week next week and I just want to make sure I have all my bases covered as the G is my daily.

Thanks!

When was the last time you changed the plugs?

Was it an occasional P0300 or did it occur fairly regularly? I had a huge vacuum leak in my brake booster area that caused my car to run very lean. It also had the occasional P0300 every now and then. Were you getting any other codes?

Sorry about the delay, busy mothers day weekend! So I double checked and it was actually a carbon build up in the throttle body that was apparently causing the misfire? Anyway, the light was off for about a day, then a P0507 popped up.

I did a Idle Air Volume Relearning, reset the ECU, and drove it 40 miles to work this morning with no light so far. I did a forum search for the P0507 when I was trying to figure out what was going on and saw it's a pretty common issue after cleaning the throttle body.

Correct, that usually happens when the idle gets messed up after cleaning the throttle body. You lucky if it goes away and doesn't come back on your first try, lol. It took me about 50 times to get the idle working correctly, lol.
