Nyc car insurance 18, help please!

I bought my G this saturday. All week have been calling car insurance companies for the cheapest quote. The cheapest i got was from progressive and it was $1860 a month

I am 18 years old, living in Brooklyn. I own a garage kept g35 2 door coupe. I have had my license since 17. But all these major car insurance companies are charging over $1000 a month!!

Woah... Consider asking outside of the main city, and consider liability only. That is whack.

969 A month??????

Almost $12K/year to insure? I know people who have had DUI's and don't even pay that much.

Its must be because you're a young male trying to insure your car on your own insurance. Try going under you parents and it will be muchhhhh cheaper. Im 18 and under my parents insurance its $226 a month with full coverage.

Pretty sure he means NYC as a whole, as in the boroughs, not the "city" Manhattan itself lol

It still shouldn't be $12K.

When i was 18 i had my own policy and think I paid only $2K/year living in Boston for a V8 Mustang.

Are you sure you are understanding this right? Thats impossible for 1860 a month...thats over 22K a year. I dont care how young you are that number cant be real. People on high risk and with DUIs pay 2-3K per year to be insured.

I could understand 1860 for the year. Pay attention to the quote. You could own 20 G35s for that amount/year.

$1860/year sounds about right.

I also second making sure the OP is understanding the quote right. Who the hell pays $22K/year for insurance on a passenger vehicle? That's commercial rate for a fleet

Wow it damn true. I did a auto quote online to see if it is true. I'm 21 and have an 06 g and they want damn near $7800 just for 6 months. So for 12 months for $15,600. That is bizarre. Btw this quote is for New York City and that is not my real name lol
