Maybe? Haha there's no way you'll ever pass smog without cats.

Putting your OE converters back on is a start. Once that's done check the remaining codes your G is throwing. You'll need to have a qualified Nissan mechanic check out the remaining codes and correct em so you can pass registration. Did you really believe you could pass the NY state tests with test pipes?

Non-foulers are supposed to trick the comp? Honestly I've never heard of this stuff. Frankly, I think its socially irresponsible to run without cats. Not that I'm harping on you, I have just never looked into that sort of thing. That being said, I don't see how that could work because, the smog stations (here in CA anyway) have a "nose" sensor that they stick in the tailpipe. If you can smell it, so can this sensor. No way of tricking it. Also, they won't even test you if you have a cel showing. Won't even pull yer car into the garage.

For a real solution to your specific problem tho, you can buy very cheap universal cats for very cheap (about $100-200/ea). You can stick those on there, pass and switch em back out. The main difference between these and stock cats is that the cheap uni ones last like a year or two vs 10+ yrs. So it would just be smart to have them available for smog checks.

OEM cats should not be that hard to find especially in New York. Check craigslist and the marketplace.

Tell us you didn't sell your factory cats, go ahead. Like one of our members posted, "You may never pass the test!"
