If you can find one of those rent a bay places or take it over to friends house maybe you can save some money?

I never did them either until a few months ago. I'd recommend air tools or an electric impact gun. You also need a macpherson spring compressor (this can be deadly), so be careful and take your time, and can be rented at an auto store. Look up EricTheCarGuy on youtube he has great vids. You can see what is needed and how-to.

Assuming I did the work myself, how much would it cost for just the fronts? I am on a budget for just the next month or so, which is why I ask. The deal I found on a car has a couple issues, only one of which is a mechanical issue, so I want to pull the trigger on it.

Air tools I don't have, but I have been like at getting an a 2-pack of electric hand tools, a cordless drill and impact gun. Thanks for the YouTube suggestion, I will definitely check it out.

Exactly. Mechanics kill you on labor. I didn't have the time or space to do mine so I wanted to just make a morning of it at a mechanic and they quoted me $1345 for parts and labor. Then when I realized I'd save !!!$1000!!!, guess what I found? Time and space.

I think they're talking about for all 4. People start getting confused when someone else comments on the "set". They tend not to pay attention to the OPs question.
