Rim Repair in NYC
Curbed my RH J8 Pro rear rim a few months back, looking to get it repaired.
I brought it to Wheels America and they said they couldn't fix it b/c they couldn't weld it or something and mentioned plastic, I have no idea.
Question for you guys is, does anyone have experience w/ RH Pro rims and know if they can be repaired and/or have the lip swapped out?? I really don't want to pay $600 for another rim.
Thanks.

Do you have a picture of the damage? If you have just curbed it, meaning you scraped the side of the rim and you didn't bend anything, you can get it fixed easy. You just need a guy will sand down the rash, apply bond-o to it and let it dry, and then fill it in with the proper color wheel paint. You can do this yourself, but it will probably come out looking much better if you have a professional do it for you. Just go to yellowpages.com and search "Wheel repair" for Manhattan, NY and I am sure you will get lots of results. Repair cost is between $80 and $300.
Btw, what model year, color, etc. are you? I am in NYC a lot.

OK, so I picked up my rim today and got the 411. Seems that since the lip is aluminum it takes a high temperature to weld something to it. Also, the lip isn't very thick so when they tried it began to melt.
Can someone confirm something like this would happen?
Also, any other ideas to fix this without buying a whole new rim?
Thanks.
