Aftermarket mystery exhaust--Does anyone know who makes this?
Hey all, new member here. I joined a few years ago without a G, but now that I've found and bought the perfect one, I'm happy to be back! I just bought a heavily modified G35 from a guy who had no clue what he had, but I could tell by the pictures that it was far from stock.
I flew out to Ohio to check it out in person, and it had a plethora of goodies: Greddy TT setup, with Greddy boost controller, Tein adjustable springs, camber kit, and aftermarket exhaust to name a few. It was leaking some oil, needed a new rear wheel bearing, and I suspect it needs a tune really bad (sometimes engine cuts out, throwing lean codes, BAD with FI). So I low-balled him, and he accepted right away, I think he was happy to get rid of the problems with the car.
Anyway, before I find an Osiris shop and get the tuning all correct again, I would like to figure out this exhaust. IT'S LOUD. Really loud, and I would be ok with it, except for the ridiculous drone at about 2800-3000 rpms, or cruising speed on the interstate. I'm talking nearly ear-splitting drone. After a ton of research, I still can't figure out who made it, or what parts are compatible with other systems, etc. I would like to get a decent resonator or muffler, anything it takes to lose the drone.
It's some type of cat-back system (cats-forward are all part of the TT setup), but the weird part comes when the single pipe branches off to the 2 exhaust tips. I can't find any companies who make this. Any ideas from the G35 community?

That exit pipe looks like something that came from an independent exhaust shop (I am no exhaust guru).
If it's not running factory cats the drone probably comes from incorrect piping diameter and lack of quality resonators/mufflers. Look into the Invidia or Motordyne (absolute best) exhausts for your TT option if you are interested in buying something else.
It really doesn't look like anything I've seen for the car, the worst out there is the Godspeed exhaust.

That 1 into 2 axle back section looks like the momentum dual exit exhaust. Check the pics in z1's site. Looks similar. Also if it is a momentum, I think the mufflers have their logo on it.

Danoman32, looks very similar, but the tips and Y pipe are different. I checked pretty thoroughly, can't find any manufacturer engravings on any part of the exhaust. Originally, I was thinking it was just a cheap kit, but then when I crawled under, it is all pretty nicely engineered (minus the sound components). And also, who would go to the trouble of installing a TT system with a no-name cheapo exhaust? It just doesn't make much sense.

Husker as long as you like the sound what difference does it make who the manufacture is? The only thing I'd recommend is when you're doing the next oil change clean it up...clean sounds better!
